Thread: Stop the Personal Harvester Madness.. CLOSE THIS EXPLOIT NOW

I don't know about your servers but several people on ours have figured out if you sit in the newbie area and hand newbies free sm houses for the use of 8 of their lots.. They give them to you. Then you hand them 8 harvesters tell them to come out and put them down. AND BOOM.. you have unlimited Lots. and 100s of harvesters.

This must stop. I know.. i am the first to use any loop hole that exists but i want this loop hole closed. Here are my suggestions.

Option 1. Don't allow admin access to others.. just hopper access
Option 2. Newbies only start with 2 lots. Upon first Master or use of 100 skill points.. they get 8 lots.. As they progress they can get up to 20.. Something like that
Option 3. Don't let people use other peoples harvesters at all

The whole problem with this is.. it makes medium and especially Large harvesters completely useless. Why spend all that time and money to make a Large.. when all you have to do is spend a fraction of the cost, press your "Trading Free house for use of lots" button and get 3 tells with offers. This is imbalanced and makes some of us.. Way too rich and way too powerful too quickly.

Thats an awefull, awefull idea, it works fine and you still have to upkeep them, besides we need those lots, my PA has come out and set up 45 harvesters for me to run its a pain in the butt, i have to run around to them all the time to fill em up, its a pain but oh well its worth it and it works to balance what your whining about.

I 100% disagree. What about those of us who create a business with 2 or 3 partners. I have never used that ridiculous exploit and those people that use it may get burned since the owner (ie person who owns lot) has ultimate control and once the person is not a newbie and realizes what is going on, they can either remove the other person or they can destroy the harvestor. Many of them will want their lots back I'm sure.

I am working on architech and have an ac/tailor (yes it's my husband) and a droid engineer partner (friend)and if we do not have administrator access we CANNOT pay maintenace for each other or distribute out the power. We take turns doing this so that if one of us can't get on we still keep the harvestor running.

Please stop cross posting this on every SWG message board in existance. This isn't an exploit, do you really think the SWG developers created a harvester function called Admin List on accident?

Plus there is no way to stop this...even if they took away the admin list, people can still tip their friends money for maintenance and hand them power.

You are an architect...why in the world would you actually request this change? Do you still make blaster powerups for xp or something? Hee hee.

Thats just a scam waiting to happen.

Sure... I will place the harvester for you...

This isnt an exploit. This was talked about in beta when the number of lots were reduced from 75 to 10. The devs even suggested grouping with combat classes to get the use of their lots. Besides, even if it was an exploit it would be an incredibly dumb one.

I dont see a problem with this, you help a noob, and also get harvesters. Infact you are putting YOURSELF at risk, the noob could take the house AND the harveters and tell the builder to get lost.

I don't see a problem either, but then again, I don't do it with everyone. I sold a house to a friend last week who is going for bounty hunter and has no real need for harvesters. I made 6 harvesters and 2 wind gens, gave them to my friend, he put them up and gave me admin rights. I pay the maint and put the power in and it all works out for the best. I give him furniutre for free in exchange for letting me use his extra unused spots.

I don't think it's an exploit, it's just smart gameplay.

Exploit no. Frustrating yes. Nothing like scraping all the resources you can from your ten lots then witnessing a tribe of harvester placers covering whole hillsides with dozens of harvesters and next thing you know all the scematics you can build are worthless because those small houses are being given away as the 'power' player grinds their way to master.

UGH.

I think we also have to take a look at the star wars galaxy at large. Seinar Fleet Systemshas more than 10 harvesters running, I'm sure. If Incom was stuck at 10, there wouldn't be any X-wings, and this game would be called "star wars, an empire totally united after the death star blew up yavin 4 without any opposition at all."

The mechanics of this game seem to have been set up so that the single user can survive solo, and through his own hard work achive (perhaps slowly) anything he / she wants. It also actively encourages people to group together and build some sort of a social framework. Guilds exist exactly for that reason. Admin lists exist exactly for that reason. If the devs actually listen to you and strip away player's abilities to actually play together, then by default the masses will be angered for the benefit of the odd solo player who wants, what, exactly?

Either face the fact that 10 people working together will have more economic power than a single person trying to do everything, or get together with a bunch of like minded individuals and, perhaps, form some manner of group to try and get an edge over the competition. Perhaps you could attract a mix of crafters, miners, and combat oriented people willing to share their building lots with you. Perhaps you could call it a player assosiation?

I dont' see the problem here. Those newbies can always delete these harvesters at a later date whenever they choose to. You cannot stop the person who placed the harvester from doing this even if you are on the admin list. So for this you will have given out a house and will probably have the use of these harvesters for a short time. Also you cannot prevent them from looting the hoppers themselves and selling their wares nor can you prevent them from removing you from the access list at a later time.

So your method to free harvesters would more than likely cost you more time and energy and cash than you would recoup. Although I must say if I was a newbie I would love to get access to somebody foolish enough to try this scheme of yours.
