I proposed the idea of chefs haveing restaurants in the game.

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=chef&message.id=36868

I had thought haveing a mini-factory (oven)in the kitchen and being able to have a crafting station and a vendor all in the same building would be very benificial to all the chefs of SWG. Thus far, there has only been positive responses, and I wanted to get you, the masons, involved, hopeing you might have helpful suggestions as well. Thanks for your thoughts, I am hopeing this will be implimented with your help, and make chefs in every galaxy (and all the architects, that may eventuallycraft these restaurants) very happy. -- Cron (Flurry)

You should post your idea in this thread:

Hey Pawlin, let's expand on this idea of his and come up with 4 seperate crafters specialty buildings, with a mini-factory, crafting station built in. Now wouldn't that be something else? Look at the DE's, they can put Crafting stations in a droid, BUILT IN, why can't we? Add in a mini-factory (1/2 of the normal factory storage ability) and make it all fit into a nice/neat 2-3 lot building, that also functions like a house. WOW..

I think that this would be absolutely excellent.. What do you think?

Me like mucho, it is more along the lines of a "workshop" than the current "buy house, drop in the crafting stations" shop.

Ya that woudl be cool. I'd love to not have to constantly run back and forth between my factory and house.

First, thanks you all for your positive responses, and very helpful feedback. Id like to think this idea has a chance to make it to the Devs draweing board. I hope that the architects and chefs of SWG get behind this proposal and help me make this dream become a SWG reality, per say. If anyone can give me advice on how to pass along this suggestion to TH or another SOE staff member, please IM me on the forums, or post your advice here. I would like to see this idea expanded, and cant wait to see if and where we end up with this. Thanks for any and all help, I am really excited about this =) -- Cron (Flurry)

Awesome Idea!!! It would seriously add to roleplaying a bit more too, not everyone in the Star Wars universe got food and drinks from the local pub. look at that fish-faced ugly mustachee having alien who gives Kenobi useful information on the kamino clone dart in Episode II. He waas a chef in a Diner!! and they had a cool Diner droid that reminded me of that droid from the jetsons....ol whats her name...?

Well, Dvnce is looking for Ideas on new structures, and I think this one is a BIG WINNER.

I would really love to see us work it out now, 'cause the more input we have here, the sooner we can get Dvnce to throw it the Dev's way. We can work on everything else that we have on our plate currently and work this out as well.

I see a Medium sized house at the minimum, although because Smalls take up the same amount of lots, we can do that too.

However, this would be a totally seperate structure, something all together NEW. New crafting station to look more like, oh, I don't know.. hmm..

Chef's: Maybe a Kitchen Island or something with Pots and Pans on it

Tailors: Perhaps a Table that has patterns and such on it, i.e. it comes looking like that already.

DE's: Maybe some droid parts, wires, parts of chasis and such on a workshop style table

Armorsmiths: Same type of table as a Tailor, only it's got padding and such on it.

Weaponsmiths: A forge maybe, or something along those lines, with different types of components laying on it

Architects: An Architects table (I can't think of the legit name for it), with maybe a drawing on it, slide rule and such.

Etc. Etc. Etc.

Those would be the new crafting stations that are already IN the building, you still have to build the normal style one, and it gets added into the mix when you actually build the structure.

For the Housing type structure, a total revamp of a house, Perhaps a 2 story type Medium, or atleast the outward appearance is, who knows. Make is 4 lots instead of 2, so that it's actually bigger than a medium but smaller than the 6 lot Large house.

But we need it to be completely different than what we have now, not something along the current lines.

I think this would be a go, but my ideas are based on a very tired mind right now.. please jump in here and expand.

Nice idea - and yes, let's play with the notion a bit.

I'm thinking a bit on the different sizes and styles of housing that are out there. Some people don't care but others care very much that they have a similar style to the other ones in their city.

So the question I have is: do we want a completely new structure? At one extreme we could have a "Restaurant" (chef), a milinary (sp? Tailor), a foundary (Weaponsmith), etc. But we also know that people choose different styles and sizes for other reasons.

Maybe we should be able to make a "restaurant kit" (with the food crafting station and mini-factory (love that idea) that could be added to any house? Maybe installing that kit gives other bonuses, or doesn't count against the storage limit, or gives you a distinctive house sign, or .....

Have it so you can only have 1 kit installed at a time. So for me, primarily an architect and secondarily an MDE, I'd have the "architect kit". I could still have a weapon/droid/general station in there, but it wouldn't give me any of the features of the droid kit.

As you guys might be able to tell, I'm a big proponent of "modular building blocks" rather than monolithic things.

This is an awesome idea as long as we can have one for each crafting profession. It could be the same exterior just differentinteriors depending on which type it is.

Great idea! You got my full support!

I may not be a chef my self it may very will a profession i try to avoid but i do like the idea of having a resturant in game in would indeed add to the roleplaying experience not only becuase it could bring in more money fo those of us who are chefs but also when you think about it look and Dungeons & Dragons you may get info and ppl for a group to do something in a pub but having a resturant would allow a more involved feel of immersion and also it would open up a new place to get grps and such and not just from the starports and cantinas the it is now so yes i think it is a viable idea definatly something to shoot for hope to see it go live in game

(p.s GOT THAT DEVS SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT WOULD YOU NOT AGREE lol )
