Thread: How do you get enough resources to make stuff?

I ran all over Tatooine and Naboo last night looking for a place to put harvesters so I can start the long grind to master architect. Tatooine had onlt one low grade ore listing and I couldn't find a source above 40% and I fared little better on Naboo

I finally found a source on Naboo of 60% and had to go with that. Put down a medium harvester and left it to run overnight.

Got there this morning and the harvester had stopped working. Appartently the resource ran dry overnight for a grand total of 600 ore. What a nice way to sink cash

Everything in the architect line requires ores in the 100's to make. How am I going to harvest enough ore to allow me to play my char for more than a few minutes a day?

Help needed for a very inexperienced and annoyed architect on Starsider

It takes time and it takes planning. You're not going to get everything you need in one shot. I have generator weeks and wall weeks. If I find a large concentration of ore, I dump about 4 heavy harvesters on it and I make a lot of walls. If I find lots of aluminium I make generators.

When I've got enough of both, I start making more harvesters for sale

From what I can see of it this is not a very well thought out class as far as training it goes. You basically spend a few hours running around finding ore concentrations then log off while the harvesters do their work. The next day you will have enough ore to craft for a max of 10 minutes....log off for another day....rinse....repeat.

Not very conductive to play is it?

make a list when which resources pop on what planet and keep track then u get best results for harvesting.

and u see how hard it is to get as a non PA architect enough for all, even more sad that many ppl give stuff away for way to cheap ;/

if your gunna do archy for cash i say stop now youll barely break even

if tho your doing it for fun id suggest buy the ore from a recource gatherer(pay no more than 2cpu for grind ore)

thatswhat i did

once they put experimentation up to 100 im gunna start making more super heavies, i got an 11 on a 40% now

btw with ore 40% is decent biggest ever i found was a 72%

while i find steel and fibreplast etc higher and steel for less than 60% is not worth placing a harv on imo

if your on wanderhome ill make you a heavy for resources

Some tips:

- Put 60% of your harvesters mining ore and 40% metal (steel or aluminium) and buy for to 2-3 cpu the rest.

- Always check everyday mineral survey to see if there are new resources, if so run to it and get the better spot.

- If u dont know check swgcraft.com and see how long the resources are in the planet and go for the more recent.

- Buy and keep aside fiberplast and steel with 900+ unit thougness and only use it for making effiency components (by hand or factory)

- Get a fusion generator asap, mine for a week and get energy for 3 weeks - 1 more lot available

- Good % Spot :

Ore 50 - 60 % awsome 60 -70 %

Metal(steel & aluminium) 60 -70 % awsome 70 -80 %

Radicotives 70 -80 % awsome 80 - 90 %

Aim your survey for this values.

Good Luck!

Dont expect to get it all figured out in a day.

Whoever said time and planning knows what he is talking about. It takes patience, jsut becasue a resource shifts dont be in too much of a hurry to pick up that extractor. 7 times out of 10 a different resource that I need shows up in a day or so.

With a little planning, and a little patience, you can get everything you need, and reduce your re-deeding overhead.

Ore over 60% is considered a pretty good find, have several harvestors on ore.

yeah, I about pooped my pants when I found decent ore for 59% vein of decent ore.

I used to have 6 heavies on ore, 2 heavies on alum, 2 on steel, etc.

Now, I just concentrate on one item and lay down everything I got on it. When it runs dry, I move onto my next resource I need.

I stick to one planet. I know Corellia's time tables on when things shift. As soon as they shift, you find a spot and put down your harvesters. Usually 5-7 days you have to mine the stuff. The trick though is to learn the cycles. Once you know the cycles, you can plan.

I have 10 heavies pumping out ore on a 65% spot now on Corellia. I came across an awesome spot with 65% and room for all 10 harvs next to each other. It went to 69% but, that section would have my harvs all over the place.

When this runs dry, I need copper so that's where my 10 harvs will be going next.

Build up a buffer of materials. Crank out walls and sell them to other architects.

Thanks for all the useful info guys. I started this profession neither for fun nor cash. I started it because 'a mysterious voice tells you ...in order to continue on your path to enlightenment you need to learn......Master Architect'

I'm kicking myself because when I started SWG It was a toss up as to whether I made a CH or an Architect - I chose CH

I am looking forward to mastering Architect but I do feel the class is extremely limited. There is only so much call for housing, harvesters, etc. Player cities will boost things a little but I feel even then it will be short lived.
