Thread: Experimenting on extraction rate.
I figure what I'm about to ask must be a common questions, but I looked through the forums and I haven't found any answers. If this is answered in a FAQ somewhere, please tell me where to look.
I'm wondering how to increase the base extraction rate on my harvesters. Also, I'd like to know what the maximum extraction rate is on various harvesters.
I'm a novice architect. I've been building medium harvesters. Some of my mineral harvesters have a base extraction rate of 5. Others have a base extraction rate of 6. I'd like to produce more with 6, but I haven't figured out how.
Last night I built my first medium chemical extractors. I have one measley experimentation point. So, I built about 10 fluidic drilling pumps, using my experimentation point. When I finally got a good success, I dropped the pump into my chemical extractor, but I only got an extraction rate of 5.
Is experimentation on the fluidic pump (for chemical extractors) and the light ore mining unit (for mineral extractors) the only thing that effects the base extraction rate? Is there any way to tell when you build one of these devices what the extraction rate will be?
BTW, I think GreenMarines post, "Harvester Experimentation - The Facts" could stand to include a few more facts.
I want to knowthe range of of possible base extraction rates are for each type of harvester. I want to know which subcomponents effect the final base extraction rate. When I build a subcomponent, I want to be able to figure out if the experimentation was good enough to get me to the next higher extraction rate. For instance, if I knew that an experimental extraction rate greater than 20% on a light ore mining unit will always produce a harvester with a base extraction of 6 or more, then I'd know whether to build a schematic, or push the "practice" button.
I'd be must appreciative if someone could clue me in.
At least until the next big patch the ONLY parts that control extraction rates are the Light Ore Mining Units, Ore Mining Units, Fluid Pumps, and Harvesting Mechanisms.
As a non-master wishing to build nice harvesters I'd really suggest you find a master willing to sell you experimented extraction parts at a reasonable price. If you're on Flurry you can buy parts from me that will produce 11kg/hr heavy and 8kg/hr medium harvesters with no further experimentation needed by you. Final experimentation and all other parts help improve hopper size which except for fusions is generally more than enough. Any master can hit 10kg/hr heavy and 7kg/hr mediums if they're using decent resources so you should be able to find a master willing to sell parts if you look around a bit.
I'm on flurry as well, and have a question.
I did a run of 4 medium harvestors, using the exact same mining units from a factory.
For some reason, I got 7 for 3 of them, and 6 on 1.
Did I do something wrong? How are you getting 8? Do you go for amazing results?
Probably Skill tape enhancements for struct experimentation.
As a master with really good resources and amazing succeses it gets just under 70% which is the barrier for that 8kgh/hr I think.
maybe if Kettemoor had some better stuff I could do 8s w/out tapes, but right now just need that extra experimentation pt to get it done.
Glad someone posted something like this
My question is about fusions.
I currently make a heavy mineral harvester with an extraction rate of 9. I use the same mining unit in my fusions, yet only get a base extraction of 15 (I believe the standard is 13)
How is it possible to extraction rates of 25 that i hear of. Or has this beenchanged recently?
25 is just a rare mistake in the coding of the old harvesters that were not in the ground when the pathc hit.. they got to be awsome for some reason... You can't make them though...
alos I have 995 UT materials and even on amazing you get 70% but that doesn't get you the 11's and 8's you have to have a SEA
I'm trying but no one has them!!!! grrrr
You dont need tapes to get good rates. I can get 10's with decent materials. The biggest barrier is the material used. 64% with a high 900s material will yield a base 10 rate.

I use crap 698-720 UT metals.. have to experiment a few more times but 55% exp gets u 7/10 rate mining units..

OMG this board needs an edit or post confirmation thingy...
Like I was saying you can use lower UT and still hit 7/10, I have 55%-59% units that give 7/10.. but I dont know how this will be affected when the patch hit.. the database stores the real value and the Devs can set the rate points where they want.. so I make all my units using 980+UT to get the Max % I can with my measly 5 points (65%-71%) so that when the patch hits I hope my customers will get the best possible rate..

I busted my ass to get the best materials, and could only get a 16 rating on my fusions.
I have no idea how to get the ore mining unit up passed 70%. 67% was all I could get, and that was only when I got an amazing experimentation. (There where still two boxes after max experimentation)
I need more skill experimentation points ![]()
The parts that affect the extraction rate are the ones you can improve the efficiency on and those would be,
Light Ore Mining Units, Ore Mining Units, Fluid Pumps, and Harvesting Mechanisms
I make 7 mediums and 10 heavys and 25 fusion
at this time with 5 pts to use im waiting to see what I can do with 10.
To bad they are nerfing the 25 on fusions though...
