I had a rather large custom order, about 8 million worth of architect stuff. order was delivered to the guys vender and spoke to him at the time, all was fine. Now its been about a week and he has yet to purchase or contact me. IM tempted to send him an email saying that i will hold the stuff for him if he wants it but now he wil need to get it off of my vender or meet in person. Just dont wanna lose out on all of this.... so my question is

How long should one give a person to buy a large custom order off of their vender? ive got a lot of capital invested in that stuff and id he dont want it ill be happy to sell to the public instead. Any insight would be appreciated

I'd expect someone to buy that big of an order within 1-2 days. But the guy might have RL problems, like a computer crash or something.

I'd put him on your friends list and if you see him log in then send him a /tell and ask when he'll be able to accept the order.

Ask their guildmates, make sure the player isn't on vacation or anything. After that, send out an e-mail stating that if the products are not picked up and paid for, they will be resold, do it as a "first warning" kind of thing, and mention that this will only be for a week, three days later, send out another "second warning" now it's four days to pay and retrieve, then the day before you pull them, "final warning" if they aren't gone when you log in the next day, pull them and resale them.

if you sell them, you can always re-make them

I do reminder emails all the time. It's standard operating procedure. Save him/her as a friend and ask them questions about it. If this is becoming habitual on your server, you might control it better if you left the order on your own vendor for them to pick up.

As a rule for me, and this goes for all auctions as well. People get5 days, if not picked up in that time they go up for the general public.

I was thinking about this the other day when I got a custom order. What worries me a little bit is that my customer wants thier guild name on the furniture. I won't be able to re-sell it really... well it would take some sleuthing.Any porblems obtaining delivery of unique furniture?

I haven't had serious problems with orders. Some people took their time (over a month), but I did eventually get them to pick up their order.

For anything that is requested to be unique, I would get at LEAST enough to cover the resource costs if not a little more. This way if they welch out, at least your didn't loose anything except a little time...

Oh yeah, btw in addition to your ban list that you have on your shop, you should maintain an auction restriction list and an order restriction list. The auction list basically is a list you'll maintain that allow you to reject bids by non-paying/picking-up bidders and the order restriction list is going to be one where you require upfront payment of part or all of the purchase or some collateral.

I hope, for your sake, the guy picks up the order... I have had probs with this, and thats one of the reasons why I make them come to me and pick it up off of my vendor, that way I still retain control of the order and if i choose to pull it, i can do so. Also, someone mentioned getting a deposit of sorts to cover the cost of your resources at least. I do that on ALL large orders. If they got the money, and are serious about needing the stuff, they will cough up the cash. if they go to arguing about it, odds are they are just playing a "Joke" on you thinking its a funny thing to do.

I know I prolly wont get rich doing business this way, but I make enough cash to do what I want to in the game, and thats good enough for me....LOL

The problem with delivering is that you can't just pull it off the vendor you offered it to, that feature is broken unless they fixed it recently and I missed it. I always contact the person I'm delivering a large order to prior to delivery and ask that they pick it up ASAP. I've never had a problem. Actually the only time I havnt had orders picked up are when they're posted on my vendor, and in both cases they were players I didnt really know and trust. My large orders are always from well respected players, whom I either know or know of, so maybe I'm just lucky lol.

I haven't had a problem withdrawing an offer to someone's vendor. Just have to double click on the item to get its examine window and then there is a button to withdraw the offered item.
