Good evening. I'm a new architect that could use some advice. I mastered it earlier, mainly because I had left over sp, and my guild needed one. I'll be honest and say I didn't think it'd be so complex. As soon as I saw the list of sub-components required, my brain felt like it'd been hit by a freight-train. Atm (I have a cold and am tired) I can't even begin to comprehend what I need to do, and where to start.
Please could you post your advice, your experiences from your newbie days and any other recommendations you think might help me. Anything at all is appreciated, no matter how much or little you wish to share.
Thanks for reading and best wishes, Shil.
Read the FAQ which is stickied at the top of the page. If you like, you can send me emails or tells (Kettemoor.Isander), so you can send tells like /tell Kettemoor.Isander if you have further questions. Are you a new novice architect? Or are you a new master architect?

My advice...
Start minin Ore, tons and tons of it. When you think you have enough...mine some more. Then build walls, when you think you have enough...build more walls.
Welcome to the profession

I'd like to say thank you for both your replies. I truly appreciate the time you took to write them. I'll try and catch you in-game in a bit and we can have a chat. I don't have many free lots at the moment, so I may need to buy the Ore for the walls. I fear this may get expensive
Regards, Shil (Architect name is Draca). I am a newbie-Master Architect.

There are some very good documents on how to be a successful Arch in SWG.
The pimer which I wrote for one of the guilds that reside in the community of which I am Mayor, is located here: http://enforcers-guild.com/tiki/tiki-index.php?page=architect-tutorial
I think it is still relevent and should give you enough info to get started.

And when you mine ore, mine Fermionic Siliclastic Ore.
It only spawns on one planet at a time, BUT
1) it stays in-shift for 15-20 days and
2) it is found in much higher concentrations than other ore.
Unless you need a specific type of ore (carbonate), this stuff is the best thing ever!

Thank you both also. I'll keep an eye out for that ore. I'm too tired to read the guide now, but I'll wade into it tomorrow morning.
Good night all and thanks!

a fast start could be:
1st) Factory run (1000 units) of bricks (structural modules)
2nd) Factory run (+99 units) of Wall modules (takes 10 bricks each)
3rd) "" (+200 units) of Generator Turbines
4th) "" (500 s.s.s.m. and 200 s.s.m)
Then you must only:
craft the main subcomponent (omu, tfdpu, hhm, mm, etc..) thatare to make harvesters any kind and/or
craft the main subcomponent of civic buildings ( power core unit).

Tchh, tchh Mastodon, the guy already said he was reeling.
To translate:
s.s.s.m. = small structural storage module
s.s.m. = structural storage module
omu = ore mining unit
tfdpu = turbo fluidic drill pump unit
hhm = heavy harvesting mechanism
mm = manufacturing mechanism
These are all components used in various structures

I'm amazed at how helpful the guys on this board are. On most boards you risk being savanged for asking questions
In an attempt to get my head round this, I've gotten a few pieces of paper and am working out what I want to stock, then working backwards. So far I have crafting stations, all harvesters (medium and heavy), streetlamps, candles, droid batteries, powerups, factories, guildhalls and all types of houses in all sizes.
Next I'm going to work out how many of each I want to make initially, then work out the resource cost.
For example:
Large House =
1500 metal, 2900 low-grade ore
10 Similar wall modules (100 structural modules)
1 power core unit (1 gen turbine, 1 power conditioner, 1 energy distributor)
2 identical structure storage modules
So it requires
1500 metal + 2900 low-grade ore + ((100 structural modules * their resource cost) + cost of making wall * 10) + ((gen turb resources, power conditioner, energy distributor) + cost of making power core unit * 1) + resource cost of making structure storage module * 2)
* number of houses desired
Architect seems to be the most under-valued profession from looking at the effort you put in and the profit you get out.
You must really have to take pride in your work to do this. My main motivation is to run a successful and steady shop, something to be proud of. The artisan items won't be a problem. Swoops just require 900+ CD iron/steel(fe) and copper/aluminium(non-fe) (6,400 + 1,600?) and powerups are quick and easy.. but stocking enough buildings to begin with is gonna be very difficult.
