Thread: New Mining Harvs

I would like to see more options in mining equipment.

currently:

medium harv = BER 10 = 1 lot

Heavy Harv = BER 13 = 1 lot

why not add some new equipment.

industrial = BER 25 = 2 lots..... requires double the resources of a heavy to make also double the maint/power to upkeep.

super = BER 40 = 4 lots ....requires double the resources of aindustrial to make also double the maint/power to upkeep.

Planet killer = BER 75 = 8 lots..requires double the resources of asuper to make also double the maint/power to upkeep.

-these "supersized" harvs" cost more to make and upkeep than whats out there currenlty and collect slighly less resources.

- could be similar designs for flora/chem ...etc

- gives archs new stuff to create/make money from.

- will help reduce the number of structures out there in the wild.

They cost more and collect less per lot. Why would anyone want them?

At least when I go up to heavies from mediums, I'm getting more resources per lot.

Yes I've found that its sometimes hard to place harvesters on certain spots cause of the terrain.

So instead of dropping the heavy on the 90% spot, I have to go find an open location at 70% or 80%. So I'm less efficient. So we already have the option to choose less efficiency.

Or you can spend more time and survey for a better spot in another location.

I didn't think your goal was to help lot farms. But such harvesters could make lot farms a lot easier to manage and that is a side effect that I think SOE wouldn't care for.

/agree

Also, i think I would rather have more furniture options, or fixed fusion experimentation before any new structures.

While, as an arch, I'd READILY would love to see something like this. The resource market would bottom out and the economy as a whole would bottom out because crafters would have more resources than they could possibly need. Economically, this would be a killer for the entire economy. Resource price would drop. And EVERYTHING you'd need them for. Maybe just a ber 25 with a decay (not just maintenance but keep them coming back). Oh the dream of it!

No the proposed harvesters would have less output / lot than a current heavy.

The BER25 would be 2 lots. SO thats 12.5 BER per lot rather than the BER13 we have now for one heavy. The larger styles proposed are less efficient.

Kinda pointless in my opinion. As for your idea that they could fit better in hard to reach places, I'd imagine if the devs implemented them that they require a larger footprint and more free space around them which should negate this idea's other benefits. And really why pay more when you can buy something that is cheaper and better.

I think hardly anyone would value the convience that much to want to give up the efficiency.

For an individual, managing harvesters on our 10 lots is not a big deal. SOE is not going to be interested in facilitating the ease of people with giant lot farms.

have you ever been out surveying a found that uber uber resource in high concentration...all excited you get off your swoop, open your inventory attempted to place 10 harvs on the spot only to find out you can place one 1 there...the other 9 go on a less contrentrated spot?

-these new harvs give you options (place the planet killer in tight spots)

-new things for archy to build/sell

-use less inventory space up... I can carry 1 planet killer instead of 8 heavies.

this has nothing to do with giant lot farms.

How about instead of bigger/better harvesters, even tho I surely wouldn't mind something new to build...

how about a data-link system, connecting harvesters together. Install a primary harvester and then link secondaries to it. Anything done to the one, effects the others. Can make payments to the whole, deposits of power and withdraw resources or change to a new one.

Yes this would help harvester farms, but it'd help everyone else to. And I don't think SOE would disagree w/ reducing time spent tending harvesters to increase time spent actually playing the game. This would reduce stress/frustrations and increase the happy/killing time we all seek to enjoy. It's a happy-happy joy-joy time for all w/ this I think.

Side note, if SOE doesn't like harvester farms, then how about reducing the very need for them by reducing resource requirements? As an arch, I just feel forced to use farms to keep up. And when I buy resources, which I buy around 80% of what I use now, I'm giving the need to use farms to those I buy resources from. Try finding a resource dealer w/ the quantities of crap(grind) resources we want, at the prices we can afford to use... and not have been harvested off a farm. =)

I know this is an old topic, but the problem with finding free areas to place harvesters could much more easily be solved by having them act like camps. I have never played a scout, so I need to ask is a bulldozer a required components for making a camp kit?

The only new harvesters I would like to see are classes of harvesters that could be placed on uneven terrain or water.

For example

Heavy Mountain Mining Harvester - Can be placed on slopes

Heavy Aquatic Mining Harvester - Can be placed in water.

Those two types would be the hottest sellers in the game!
