Here are some positive, easy and non development intensive Architect fixes
that will not anger people yet put money back into the architect business.
(also, wont increase database usage much)

Houses:
In order to become a master in any field you must have a residence declared.
What is a master without a home? Houses don't deteriorate but once you drop
a house you CAN NOT pick it up. You must destroy it and buy another.

Harvesters :
Harvesters need to have deterioration. Yes, you pay maintenance but things don't last forever.
Just apply the same things weapons and armor have. 1000/1000 then let it count down while
the harv is running. Once it reaches 0/1000 destroying it will not give a deed back.

With 24x7 usage
Smalls last 1 month 1000/1000
Mediums last 2 months 2000/20000
Larges last 4 months 4000/4000
(if you want you could apply some experimentation bonus here?)

Factories:
Same deal as Harvesters
Since they don't run 24x7 usually.
2000/2000 should last 4 months?

Furniture:
Furniture doesn't need to deteriorate. Just give Master Architects all the schematics to every
type of furniture that exists in the game. This will not increase the database size because you
can still only put so much into a house.

Possible Extras:
Allow Architects to build faction structures. But, they must be part of the faction
and OVERT and by a crafting station to actually see the options in their structure
crafting tools.

Yes, Player cities are coming but only a few select architectswill be building them.
I think these are fair changes that will help the whole class as a whole without going overboard.

Not much to say,

I like it. People will scream their heads of about nerfing houses and extractors and such, but it would make the economy a lot more real.

I am having a hard time seeing a downside.

Good idea

Toss a starving man a rotten piece of food and he will eat it...Why would decay make us better? Seems to me it would drive prices down when people find they will lose this item sooner or later..

Weaponsmiths have decay and make a ton of money...Most of the people ingame need weapons and not all NEED houses or harvesters...Now how much more do you think a weaponsmith would get fo a weapon that didnt decay..I would say insane amounts more..Decay will do nothing but make those of left even more worthless and im sure alot of people would give up thier houses and harvesters rather than have them replaced..

Sorry about putting houses in with harvesters but that idea is a bit flawed too...Seems to me that a master scout spent alot of time working to live in the wild and why would they be required to have a house?

You cant force people into buying houses that would make us all look bad..

I have to agree with Rarek -- decay will not increase prices, only decrease them. Look what happened with Probot prices when they got permakilled. They went down, not up, and the demand for them went down as well. I think the same thing would happen with most structures -- demand would go down, along with prices.

That being said, I guess I'm one of the few architects that has made a good profit at the game and is fairly happy with things. Yes, I wish experimentation worked, yes, I wish we could color furniture, yes, I wish that there was a decay on furniture. But all in all, I'm fairly happy.

No, I'm not a price cutter; I have my pricing and I stick to it and if I lose out on a sale to someone who is low-balling, that's the breaks. The nice thing is that low-ballers can't keep up with demand, and the profit is really in the high-end stuff.

It doesnt address that specific issue, but it does address the issue of a house being a permanant structure, it should decay over time.

I still like it, it doesnt solve everything, but it points in the right direction.

I might increase all his times by a month. Btu I am not arguing the little stuff, it is the general idea I like.

Moving houses is a competion issue...Almost all games with housing have the option to pick them up and move them..You have to look from a business point of view and see that they cant reduce the fuction of houses lower as this would make alot of other games more appealing...

In a player run economy only the players ruin the economy not the game...Those of us who flooded the market and took all the players out who may have waited to buy a house did this..We also have too many people working this job..If you have50 tailor shops in a city with 400 people guess what someones not going to make it,alot in fact..

You are right there, there are too many archetects for the number of customers, which is why competition for a declinign market is increasing and why older archetects are getting upset with busines minded newbies competinig at a levelof profit they arent used too.

Business is war, and it is PVP war at that.

House decay is dumb ideal, why am i paying maintence for? What should be added is the ability to make changes to the structurelike the color or look of the structureHere's an example.

1) Paitio DeedExtension to the house. Resources need

Three wall structures

Potted plants

Chairs & Tables

Using diffrent plants and furniture allow differing looks.

How many times in real life has my 50 year old house decayed too???? Dont base your debates on this game in real life terms they dont work..

If you use RL as a base, how many house deeds have you bought and placed in an open lot? How many people do you know that are limited to # of homes they own and the size of them? How many houses have you had blow up if you dont pay the rent?

Plain an simple if decay is there it makes the people on the fence not want to deal with owning these items.. I have yet to see one reason posted why our structures should just get used up..If new players are not enough to keep this profession going then the simple fact is there are too many of us..

Do a search for armorsmiths ,weaponsmiths, and architects in anytown you go to and that will show you the reason for our problems..Players run economy works like real ones if you have too many people to fill the same job the jobs are hard to come by..

I do think my next door neighbour is a Wookie though.

I am not sure the general gaming population is ready to face that. The fact that you want to play as an archetect will not garuntee you are sucuessfull at it. If there are too many archetects ( as I believe there are now ) then competition will increase and prices will drop and demand subsides. Many Archetects will fail and leave discouraged, which is actually what needs to happen.

Everything you just said is true.

Well the thing is for houses. They are used for storage of items you can't carry with you. If it goes poof so do the items. Even if you buy a new one, you'd have to have them both up at the same time and bring as much as you can carry little by little to the new house. Thats a real pain and no one would like that much. I agree it would do little to help us in the long run.
