Thread: Aren't all these harv changes going away soon anyway (well all except for hopper size)
Q-3PO himself said that he didn't want the harv extraction rates to be experimented on. Said it would be too powerful. Only thing he said was that we'd have some kind of control over the hopper size.
Also, read this thread

Test Center has already reverted back to the old values. So, unless you intend to drop and NEVER redeed your harvs, there's no reason to experiment. I'd, personally, feel bad about selling an extractor to a client knowing that if they redeed it in a week (which is about the time this patch should probably hit live), all the values would return to normal pre-patch values. If you can put a harv down and leave it down forever, then that's great. It's worth the extra money. But, most people have to make the best use of their lots and redeed quite often to do so.
Wouldn't you feel ripped-off if you payed over 200K for an 11KG/h harv that reverted back to 7KG/h w/in a week during the next redeed phase. This is why I still will sell harvs to clients, but I don't go out of my way to experiment. That way, I don't lose extraordinary amounts of money in resources, and my clients won't end up with harvs that are only worth my regular price when they paid double. I dunno, that's just wrong. And, my clients mean too much to me to do that to them.

Well, maybe I was wrong about some of it. didn't read that thread closely enough I guess. Still, I think it's VERY VERY risky at best. And, I don't want to do that to my clients. I'll experiment and play around for fun. But, only for fun. I won't go out of my way to do it.
Once everything gets settled, and all patches are in and harv experimentation questions have been put to rest, then I'll start experimenting on what they will allow us to experiment on. Right now, I just don't feel morally right about doing this...esp if there is ANY chance that an experimented extractor will revert. I'd just feel horrible if I sold one for over 200K when it didn't end up being worth anywhere near that much.
Thing is, am I missing something here? Do other archs not feel the same way? Do you really wanna risk losing friendships as well as business with clients over harv experimentation? Maybe it's just me, but I don't feel right about it at all.

Well yes one could be forgiven for believing it will revert...but there are and have been mixed signals on if and when this will happen. And the devs have to ask themselves if it is worth it from a player relation standpoint...this will introduce the problem of people who have upgraded becasue of some conflicting signals raising hell when it happens. Look at the hell the merchants raised when they tried to "fix" the npc vendor "bug". And with the number of people telling me for the 10 max rate harvesters...there is alott of upgrading going on. (I do not sell them becasue if the uncertain status).
In any event better safe then sorry. It is easy to purchase enough steel to build the 10 base rate harvestors...doesnt take exoticmaterials or particularly rare ones just a good UT rating (700's)...in a few tries any master architect can experiment a schematic to make the mining units to make them...all ittakes is a 50% plus expirement success on that one component...this will hardly break your bank.Better safe then sorry...Im upgrading all mine as fast as i can...if it stays i have more resources to use/sell. Im also banking my old deeds...if it reverts theres 15 heavies to add to stock. Either way, break even or come out ahead.
So, in other words, you are upgrading all your personal harvs to new experimented ones, but not selling any experimented ones. That way, if u get burned no problem...and none of your clients ever get burned. That right?? If so, that sounds like a great plan to me ![]()

well,
IF this is going away really, then i care a s.... about hopper size experimentation, why shalli care if my harvetser can hold 100k or 120k resources, since this silly quick resource shifts and very high needs or ore and stuff to produce, i have to check anyways every day, so even with a borked 17k storage heavy harvester i am fine LOL.
this whle thing is another rediculous change of the game and if they even undo the rating experimentation its totally worth less.
economy for architects is on low buttom cr/unit anyways and still alot jerk become architects and ruin all even more because they think in their little vacuum head they make good profit. sure they do atm, but wait some month when al got their harvesters and u sell one structure every 2 weeks, then u will rethink the uber tactic.
this rate experimentation should stay in , so at least masters can make better stuff then undercutting newbies and make it worth to raise the prices on our harvesters.
but well, we have to wait and see what will happen, i am not much looking positive forward to all this :/
Just for reference with heavy harvesters:-
Experiment on your Ore Mining Unit (I got mine to about 57% withgood materials and factory produced a batch).
Make the rest of the harvester with nothing special and no experimentation. Bung it all together and voila - 10 base extraction rate. The extraction rate is linked only to the ore mining unit.
Re: Prices
Medium Harvesters - I have seen people selling these with base 7 for 50-100k!! We spent ages complaining about how weaponsmiths charges too much for their stuff, and how armorsmiths over charge and given the first chance we boost our prices to up to THIRTY to ONE. Everyone knows that the Mediums only need 3 structure modules and not 3 wall modules. If these had needed 3 wall modules then fair enough, but come on, don't exceed the 10:1 rate for anything as this is almost exploiting especially as we have no real idea if the extraction rates are to be fixed.
Until I knowif the extractions rates are here to stay, I am only adding a slight increase in my price. Small, meaning around 20k for the cost of the materials in the ore unit (heavies only, medium I'll still churn out).
Tocatta D'Minor/Typher/Daxs Raptor - Master Architect, Master Artisan, Cook,Master Ranger, Master Creature Handler, Master Scout,Master Medic, Expert Bio Engineer/Geneticist, Tailor of the guild Damage Inc on Bloodfin.
So, it is going to go away? Can weget any "official" confirmation? I really hate to sell anyone overpriced harvester and then they go back to old value. Currently I am holding all my sales on heavy and inform my customers that I am not sure it will revert back or not, they order at thier own risk.
I wish developers would really inform us there! Or our correspondend could get a word.
It is really important to know what is intented and what is not. Having us in the dark doesnt help at all.

OUR COORESPONDENT **DID** RECEIVE A WORD...
Read the architect forum and look at the pinned topics... The changes were never meant to go live and will be reverting back!
