Just an idea to throw out.

How about adding some new special use structures, warehouses. These could fit in the same places as houses. Small warehouse learned at same time as small house, etc. These would be a basic shape dependant to the local architecture; square, rectangular, round, or oval. These building would just be open space. One restriction, no vendors and a bonus, more storage space.

Yes ! A low cost, low maintenance, large capacity storage facility...

Just an empty room would help as long as it can contain a lot of items, but it would be even better if it contained a series of namable resource bins, perhaps even with a symbol showing type of resource.

The bigger the warehouse the more bin or bin capacity.

that would be nice. Houses take up 2 building lots, if you could build a building that would function like a saftey deposit box, that would be nice. I dont spend alot of time in town and this would solve my storage problem and let me have one more lot.

ANd it would be cool, although it would slow down the addition of this as it would require coding (or it could come later like everything else), if you could tie in your vendor to this from your shop. This would not reduce the number of items that you have in your house making it worthwhile to have furniture as just decoration and a storage facitlity that held your wares. It would be like a database of all your stuff in one locale out behind your shop.

Great idea though.

how about this for a solution to vendor limits? Warehouses, with pallets that contain so many items each.

Architects would make the new structures.

It's a good idea but if the Dev's real problem is the database it wont help. If the Dev's real concern is the player economy then it is a great idea.

then dedicate a whole world as a "Warehouse district".

limit the access somewhat by having to travel there on a shuttle.

Not a bad idea, but it begins to push the borders of convenience. If I have to travel to another world, I'll just drop 10 small houses, and use that 1500 storage units.

From a dev post.

******

... today was a benchmark in SWG testing history: TC2 reached a population of 2200, several times our previous max. approximately 1/2 of those people were on Dathomir o.O

If you were there, you know that testing was not possible because of the lag. Here is how we are going to mitigate this for the next couple of days:

1) We are going to cap the server population at 1000. This has already been done.

2) We are going to reconfigure the server processes around Dathomir to handle the increased load.

3) We are going to bounce the cluster (and change the Village Phase) 3 times/ day. When this goes live the phases will change approximately every3 weeks.

******

I'm sorry, if 2000 people do that to your servers, I'm really concerned about this game. You'd think a game like this could handle more then that. Also that makes you wonder about how many people are playing SWG if 2200 is a new max population at one time..

edit: Guess what I'm getting at, is since there is talk about database size / lag / having to restart worlds more often, it sounds like there is something happening in the code that's not very up to par. IMO this is the ole treating the symptom, not the problem. ie: you goto the Dr. cuz you have a cold, but failed to notice your arm was cut off.

It's 5 small houses (150 storage per house)for 750 storage or 10 naboo small houses (75 storage per house) for a toatl of 750 also unless you have 2 accounts then you can get 1500 storage.
