Thread: An Egregiously Indecent Proposal to Mitigate Hoarding
Hmm. Something like this might work. But I think it would have to be more like a 1-to-5 ratio or maybe 1-to-10. Grind stuff is work 1-2 cpu average and good stuff is more like 5-20 cpu. So to keep from goofin up the resource market I think a higher conversion ratio would be better.

recyclers... you forgot about those
whats to stop someone from pulling millions of worthless minerals of the same type... throwing them in a recycler and then refining them into the good stuff?
I think the idea is something like recycler but different.
Recyclers only output grind quality stuff with stats of 200 across the board. So I don't think they'd have any impact on this refinery idea.
I would love to see refineries similar to this. You have to have a sample of the resource you want to make, then input Smelted materials, and it spits out the stuff you want at about a 1:10 ratio. This would go a long way to makeing it possible for players who missed the best ever resources to get very small amounts and have the potential to sell better goods.
It would indeed reduce stockpiles. I have several million crappy Ore I would send through immedietaly.

I'd take a 20 to 1 ratio to get more Douse and Pruton! (Tempest bests).

I've been gone for a bit here, could someone explain this hoarding thing to me? Is this a big problem?
Good to see things with the Dev's has changed.
And what exactly is being horded? Resources? Spawn Points? Sorry, I might be slow today.

Yeah resources apparently.
I think the alleged problem is that players will horde giant stockpiles of old high quality materials, e.g. OQ 1000 polymer from 14 months ago. This makes it so the new people have a tough time competing since they cant' get ahold of the stuff without paying very high prices and the people who have it can continue mass producing stuff for a long time. Or anyway I guess thats the alleged problem.
Its really not an Architect issue so much as a Weaponsmith, Armorsmith and Chef thing.
But kittens are more, emotionally compelling!
