Thanks
it appears to be architect related I cant find much in the way of complaints from other crafters .... it appears to be just us but it is very noticable.
2 Generic PA Halls, 1 factory, 1 fusion critted in last two days. Previous to this I'd only ever critted twice since I began on a final assembly of a 3-wall structure (and never on anything larger).
I upgraded from a 12 structure crafting station to a 40 yesterday. I set up the new one in my basement and left the old one upstairs. I made 3 walls at the old station, then ran downstairs to the new one. Failed 3 times in a row on walls. Ran back upstairs made 3 walls in a row. Ran back downstairs and failed on one wall. At this point I stopped because I felt that was enough to prove something is wrong with the calculations for High Quality crafting stations.

Well here it is, it is a bug lol, has been will be, till the fix the sub compents (notice how when you build a Micro Sensor Suite, it gets no rating #) it isn't suppost too, never was, never will.... The bug is this, the higher funct. the station gets cause of the sub compnets the further off the orginal forumla the crafting % get, so you might have +15 tool, + 40 station (but the station is acting like a -40)
Need Proof, Find a station, or build on with 20-30 funct..... You will only fail maybe 1 outta 100 strut modules (if you care to build that many by hand) then pick it up, and drop that 50k hunk of junk, and watch out 25 out of 100, done this many many many times, just to make sure wasn't a fluk..... So keep the good ones in the backpack, and use they not so good ones for now, sooner or later they will get it all fixed, and then they should work the way they are suppost too.
I am still not convinced that the ratings on the tools and stations affect critical fail rates or not, but the station I've been using lately has a rating of 21 and I almost never fail anything whenaround it. Maybe DLS is onto something.
oops clicked submit by accident ... was gonna add..
as a master artisan my failure rateis around 5% ( 5 out of 100)
As an architect my failure rate was aroudn 10% ... this was not altered by changing anythign from tools to stations to eating to running to system messages ... nothing changed this. But for almost a week now I have been experiencing a higher than normal critical failure rate of around 20-25% on architect produced items. My artisan items go thru just fine at the 5% rate. I have also noticed the streak issues with architect ... fail once and you will more likely than not fail 2 or 3 more times... if you keep making architect items. I have found that if i switch to artisan items when I fail that the streak gets broken .. i make 4 or 5 items in artisan then switch back to architect till the next failure which comes fairly often.
Just for the record, my master tailor is failing on at least 1 in 10 items. Careful with your crafting.

Critical failures serve no purpose in the game at all. They are rare enough that they have little effect on the amount of low cost goods being made, but common enough to be devestating on the highest end stuff. Critical failures do nothing at all to benefit the game, yet a few of these to the right person will make them quit the game. They should simply be removed.
Bingo.
There is, apparently, NOTHING you can do reduce critical failures. If you could DO something about them, then it would be a game. Given that you CANT do anything about them, all they do is randomly screw people. They add NOTHING to the game, and SUBTRACT from the enjoyment of the game.
Sure, if you experiment, you should have a chance of a critical failure. But for normal, nothing-fancy crafting - they should be removed from the game, pure-and-simple.
I'm fed up. I'm starting a thread on the main board, demanding that crit failures be eliminated from the game if you're not experimenting. I'm going to hit every crafting board.
