just thought i would share a thought with my fellow architects ... yesterday i got a tell from a person who needed a factory fine i thought to myself..so i sent a wp and all was well....until the person reaches my vendor and returns a comment of oooh thats pricey a food factory for 45k i will give you 35k he/she says. i refused as this would be selling without a profit or if a profit was made it wouldnt be worth the time it took to gather the resource and build the damn thing now i understand that ppl always want to save cash and i myself do this sort of stuff to save a bit of cash but what makes me laugh is that a factory costs less than a crate of brandy for example but no one at all ever questions what droid engineers weapon smiths armour smiths chefs etc etc charge but in my experience i get loads of ppl questioning my prices which i dont think are unfair considering the cost of gaining master architect "1 month of solid grinding for me" as to my reply to the said person it was go and buy elsewhere he/she is selling at the cost of producing the factory ...an amused master architect from corelia..Soul

No kidding i've had people whine at me for harvesters all the time...........

One schmuck wanted a heavy harester for 4K !!!!!! I'm getting really really sick and tired of people crying about the price for houses and factories and harvesters............. I spend alot of time gathering the materials which amounts needed are far far more then any other crafting profession and I demand to make a profit for my time.......

I sell my heavy harvesters experimented to 99% !!!!!! for 120K and that is on the low side in my opinion but its a price i can live with and i still get people saying they are too much..... same with factories 45K and houses 15K small 50K med 100K large...... these are prices that are around the same price range for other stuff i've seen for sale on tatooine on the tarquanis server and more important they are prices I can live with

I just keep my vendor filled. Some people stop by and buy. Some people probably stop by and don't buy. If someone asks me my price, I tell them and tell them how many I have in stock. If they say "that's steep" I say "my customers feel that I give good value for the money".

i have been getting discouraged lately....other archtiects are street selling again a superdicount prices.....people spend more on a 2 hour buff than they want to buy a house for....weaponsmiths can take like 25 metal and make 20000 off of it....people spend 100000s getting ready for the Corvette....

i dont even have those converstiosn any more....at least at this point i dont have too..i dont need to sell you a factory, thanks bye...

I would always try to explain the economics...like the componets and reources that i would use to make the factory...i could easily make 3 small houses and or turn that guild hall into several other structures and make 5X more money....

the problem is that there are bad archtiects, holo-tects and kids...they ruin the markets...

take paintings....i thought the paintings where a great income for us....they sold steady and they was a "new" one every couple of weeks...i only charged like 10-15 for them (lol but still i got more for a painting than i could a house!) but now the bazaar is flooded with them....and people are charging like 4K...its now basically cheaper and easier for me to just buy the paintings and resell them

I very rarely have people balk at my pricing. I'm not high in the price scale but I know I'm not the cheapest either. I've sold plenty of factories for 40-45k and never had one complaint on price. I also know of a guy that sells them for 25k.

Sometimes people want to haggle on pricing just cause thats how they are and is not really commentary on architect pricing specifically. But those people probably also haggle for most everything they buy especialliy if its an expenisve item . Just people that like to haggle.

I've had this conversation:

Customer: Can I buy a harvester?

Me: Sure that will be xxx credits.

Customer: Wow thats expensive! Can you drop it down to yyy credits?

Me: Sorry no, my price is xxx.

Customer: Oh. Ok.

<sale made>...

Customer : ooc: could you haggle a little next time please? its fun.

Me: Oh, ok. :-)

If that guy hadn't said OOC that he likes haggling then I might have just thought he thought I was overpriced. Its just typical haggling ploy though. You allways gotta lead with the indignant exclamation that the item is too expensive.

However I have had someone act outraged that I wanted to charge100k for something. I think thats cause someone they know charges 80k. Thats all they know. They don't realize that 80k is a cheap price and that 100k isn't unreasonable. They just know 100k > 80k. Course if they act indigant or insulted then they just aren't all that nice / polite and a candidate for my /addignore list.

Standard disclaimer: The economy varies a lot from server to server.

Example:

I charge 49k for factories. Probably on the high side for my server. People buy, those that buy w/o arguing for price are likely to get a 5k tip from me.

Those that hagle and eventually pay my price, wont get a thing.

The brandy tastes better though, and it doesn't require maintenance

well imo houses should be most expensive wares like just in real live, status symbl etc. they provide extra storage etc, so they serve a big use.

in swg its almost cheapest good of all. well thats the fault of you architiects tho.

i really dont know nor understand why u sell all for around pure resource price. you got highest amount of resource usage to make such things.

its rediculous that food, weapons, armor all costs multiple cpu then your items.

maybe you would rething such calculations, cause i am sure even if u make prices higher ppl will buy, thats called demand. one want a house, he/she will buy it, they only dont buy cause you undercut yourself in a rediculous way /shrug

Yes, in a perfect world (RL or VR) you are right. But you cannot blame architects for this. If all gamers shared your views we would of course be selling houses for 150k for a small, 250k for medium and 1 million plus for a large. But nobody would buy them, it's all about perception, need etc. Think about it, in RL you need to live somewhere, you need a house to live in, to sleep in, to relax in, to protect you from the elements. In game you don't need a house at all unless you require it for storage, and there are other ways to store things that mean you don't even need if for that. So Why would anybody paytop dollar for something that is just nice to have?A house does not really improve the gaming experience, it is 'surplus to requirements' there are many characters who will spend their entire gaming life never owning a house at all, they will simply run around shooting and killing, camping wherever they find a convenient spot or public structure, middle of town on a park bench or whatever. For some a house is a burden, somewhere they have to return to from the opposite end of the galaxy to feed it with maintenance once a month to keep it from disappearing.

We cannot just expect all architects to unilatterally increase structure prices, it will never work, the guidelines for these levels have been set, they are what the market expects and what it will stand, unfortunate, but true. Using your principle and the type of prices I have quoted above the first architect to sell at half those prices would be the first billionaire in SWG and everybody will have to follow suit to survive.

sorry bandola to disagree,

its funny how u even defend the flaw in your pricings hehe.

first off al hosues are NOT useless as u stated.

you cant get more storage without a house. period (all have a bank and droids for storage but houses still give aditional)

you NEED a house if u wish to join a city

and last but not least this is dammit a RPG and its a fun feature to have a house, and sure people would buy it. definately regardless of the prices. if they are high then they are, demand is still there.

i see no reason why a small house only costs on some servers 5k!!!! thats under 2 cpu, thats simply rediculous and not justifiable by any argument. that is a giveaway in other words. since pure resources sell even higher lol

but hey thats your problem not mine i just try to make you lowcut architect to think about what u doing. no need to complain about cash as long many of you sell for that cheap rediculous prices, we fighters are happy about it hehe. i can buy from mision pays of 1 hrs work several small houses but you work way longer to get resources, make the items and put in the vendor thats your choice.

i simply cant understand the logic behind it. all other crafters charge more cpu

and as pointed out , you architects sure got demand its not that nobody want to buy, plus the fact alwayxs new players join the game, aka they need stuff.

no offence pls, this isnt a flame at you. i just cant follow that thoguhts
