Thread: Why can't deed items look like the final products?
Why can't deed items look like the final product? When you build or examine a deed now, it shows that sand colored flat square which, I assume, is actually a picture of a deed. Why not code it so it looks like the final product?
Letting us examine the final product isthe best way to do it, in my opinion. You remember in older games where you'd craft 5 different kinds of shirts, but they'd all have the same icon? Not ideal. Now, we have this great system in SWG where you can actually see the shirt you're getting. It's fantastic! But I don't see any reason to keep this functionality away from architects' wares. It doesn't seem fair. This makes it especially hard for people who are buying items on the bazaar. "Buyer tells you, 'Kaeil, what does the Generic st2 house look like?'" Who knows? I'm certainly can't typea better description than a picture would give him.
I'm being sincere, not sarcastic. I just don't see thereason for showing the deed icon.
Ginchy.
I agree with what you said but for a different reason. I don't want to see or hear about people getting scammed by some jerk that sells factories and fusion generators that are really just personal flora farms. I'm sure like most 3D online games, their global graphics pool is limited. They could atleast have a mini-icon that represents the final product, a house with a 1 on it for small, 2 for medium, 3 for large etc etc.
Well honestly the simple solution would be to attach a simple text flag to each and every item telling you what the actually schematic is. People could still name thier products whatever they wished but when you examined the product there would always be a text message at the bottom saying "Medium Generic Floorplan 1 house".
This doesn't hardly require any work at all on Sony's part and fixes the problems with Scams.

Retromercial,
That's good news. That'll take care of scams. However, I'd still like to see the house icon rotating. When I sell a house on Corellia and there are 4 plans for a small house, I'm sure people would like to see the difference. You know? Anyway, I guess I'll take what I can get, which is the text signature that identifies what the item truly is.
If it is in your inventory, or in a secure trade... but you can't see this in the bazaar or vendors right now. Also, you can't see "# of uses", "quantity in factory crate" or any other info designated by a small number on the inventory icon, other than "Resource Quantity"

All you have to do is move your mouse over the item and the pop up window will have the items real name or at least that is how mine has worked.
I don't see why, when you examine the item that it couldn't show a low poly account of the final product. Would be much easier for people to visualize what they are getting if they haven't seen it before. I don't mind it showing as a deed in inventory but I think your idea has plenty of merit.
because they would have to do the art work for it.
i'm more interested in having the second room's doreof the botum flore of the large naboo house no longer clip through the wall.
"because they would have to do the art work for it."
No, I don't think they would. They already have the model for it (obviously, it's in the game), and they could just lower the level of detail (LOD) on that model. I'm not sure, so I can't say this with certainty, but I think they use a lower LOD for all other items on teh bazaar/inventory, too. So there would actually be very little coding involved.
