I mean..who deletes resources from their harvester anyway?

Yeah...i should've been paying more attention...but **edit**...losing 68k of digabuh copper was NOT nice...especially on top of the fact that harvesters ARE using 150 units of power/hour and it is NOT a display bug (i used 400 units of power in two hours)...

Hey, at least they did put the confirmation box in! I have seen it several times now because of the remarkably sadistic placement of the "dump" button.

That, BTW, was put in to bypass an irritating bug that kept you from destroying/redeeding a harvester because of a zero resources line in the output hopper.

I think it a shame that instead of fixing bugs, they have to add unpleasant features to bypass them. This one is particularly unpleasant for newbies who wonder "What does that button do?" and then panic on the confirm.

Actually I use the empty hopper button fairly regularly. When there has been a significant resource shift, I will use a few already placed harvesters to quickly get samples of all the new stuff, instead of having to wait 30 seconds in between each one manually sampling.

But if you don't turn the machine off at the right moment, you can sometimes end up with an extra resource unit sitting there in the hopper. If it turned out to be a crappy resource, it's faster to hit "empty hopper" than it is to retrieve the item, then go into your inventory and hit delete.

It wasn't just added to work around the dumb zero resource line, because that doesn't always work anyway. If your harvester is damaged from lack of maintenance, the empty hopper button won't work on a zero resource line anyway (until you pay up for repairs), which means you can't destroy the thing until you repair it to 0 first!

I'm at work and can't say this for sure, but if i remember corectly there is an option in the options menu(ctrl-o) to set confirmation of deleted/destroyed items. I will be looking into this as soon as I get home. I would not be happy losing that kind of metal. As a matter of fact im going to test it to make sure it works with harvester's. Was thinking about retrieving the ore from the hopper, then let it harvest 2 or 3 units then use the empty button to make sure I get confirmation. If it works then I will leave that destrot item confirmation box checked from now on.

It would've made much more sense to have a button with "retrieve all" rather than delete all ....

Just double-click the resource in the hopper and it automatically retrieves

Ok... maybe i am missing something, but this sounds even more stupid than it first appears...

To retrieve resources you had to click 'Hopper', select the resource from the hopper list, click 'Retreive', then select the quantity and click 'Ok'

Are you telling me that the 'Empty' (which should be called 'Discard' or something) doesnt even have a confirmation screen of any sort?

If it doesn't then all I can say is... OMG, brilliant design.... lol

Positec..no..there *is* a confimation button..but they're always changing things and i wasn't paying attention. I mean..i totally take blame for this...i wasn't paying attention..

But it's still cheesy putting the "empty hopper" button where the retrieve used to be.

If it's any consolation for your loss of 68k resources my respect for you is very high.
