I was trying to make a heavy mineral harvester and i need 2 ore mining units in a factory crate. But im not able to crate these in a factory. Anyone know a way around this? I need to get these harvs out for osmeone and i can't even get one made.

Ore mining units do not come out in crates. The factory will make them as singles. But you can use the singles for your heavy mining harvesters. If you're using a factory to make your harvesters you can also use the single OMU's in the factory.

thanks i got it workig now.

Just can't get above BER 11 on a heavy mineral harv .

Any tips on the quality of resources needed to get to BER 13?

Make sure your OMU's are experimented to at least 90%. Pawlin taught me that trick and it worked for me. I'm assuming you are master archi.

Um i doubt they were experimented to 90%.

What kind of stats on resources do i need?

Hi stimy (fishie),

The important stats are HR, SR, and UT by 25, 25 and 50%

If you can get all three of those in the 900's you should be able to get OMU's that are 90%+.

Good Luck

Another trick is to use Lube Oil for the chem portion --- it doesn't have the stats which makes it easier to get to the higher values.

Just make sure you get the omu's to BER 5, i think thats the cap... just use recources with HR SR and UT in the 900's like everyone else already said and use lube oil unless you have another chemical that is better quality than your metals or it will only decrease quality in the end.

Sorry - this is not correct. I believe that the FAQ (stickied at the top of the page) covers this in more detail.

1. The "rating" of an OMU means *almost nothing* with regards to the final BER of the harvester. They show "rate=4" or "rate=6", but those are very broad measurements. Hidden from view are much more precise measurements. You should *ALWAYS* experiment your mining components as high as you possibly can in terms of their "experimental effeciency". I don't have the numbers handy but if you don't get them into the 90s then your chances of hitting BER13 on the final product are pretty slim.

2. You only need to experiment on the "mining components" (e.g., OMU) and the final assembly.

3. For those components and final assembly the quality of your steel/metal/ore is determined by: (HR+SR+UT+UT)/4 - if this calculation isn't over 900, you probably aren't going to hit max BER. (There are some subtleties with this, and given a choice you should use your *best* stuff for the mining components, but as a general rule that is true.)

4. NEVER EVER EVER use anything but lube oil for mining components or final assemblies that call for chemical. The reason is that lube oil doesn't have HR, SR, or UT so it doesn't "dilute" your calculation - it doesn't count against you. If you try to use fiberplast or polymer (which both have UT I believe), then the final quality will take that value into the equation. So the *only* way you would ever benifit from using those would be if their UT was *higher* than all of your steel/metal/ore. That would make them rarer, and more costly. Just use lube oil and never have to worry about it.

So, is it correct to say that the lube oil stats don't matter? Just that you have some?

Yes the stats for lub oil do not matter.

Thats because as Zen said the lub oil doesn't have the stats that matter for us. Since there is no HR, SR or UT stat on Lub oil, it isn't figured into the equations. So you can use any quality, and it essentially acts as filler.

Awesome, just wanted to be clear on that before I dug up some low stat oil

Thanks!

Actually I always get BER 6 OMU's. Just made a batch with Abagine Duralloy Steel and that's not nearly the best steel you can get. Experimented to 94% and still had a point I couldn't use.
