Thread: Post your opinion Architects to build speeders and spacecraft!
Take the useless construction skill levels and make them vehicular skill. Make architects the only source for players to buy landspeeders, swoops, and eventually spacecraft.
Why? Because at the moment architecture is fatally flawed, and architects can't even get back enough for a deed to make it worth the same as selling the resources directly at the bazzar, much less the kinds of profits a weaponsmith can make per unit of resource. This would give us who got into the profession a big boost to the FUN of being an architect... right now we really could use a boost.
Opinions? Please keep this thread alive if you like the idea!
I hope they do this, but I doubt they will. What I think you will see is that they are going to add a new list of professions with each enhancement.
Plus, all th DEs who had probots nerfed will scream and say a speeder is more like a droid then a house.
This isa great idea, except for the fact that it makes no sense. It barely makes sense for an architect to be building mining equipment and furniture really, but they had to throw something in there besides houses I suppose ![]()
Perhaps if they renamed the profession to something more generic?
Anyway, I think this would result in far more people getting into an already crowded field unless theydo one thing:
Make sure *every* vehicle requires parts from at least one or twoother crafting profession. Whether its hull plating from an armorsmith, seat covers from a tailor, or navigation AI from a DE, thiswill make sure thateveryone is involved and gets a piece of the vehicle pie. Otherwise architects will have too much stuff I think, compared to others like DE and AS.
And these need to be complicated parts, because other than a factory, a vehicle is the most complex thing you can make.
Interesting. Even though adding vehicle construction to the architecture skill tree would make it, as a profession, potentially WORK?
Its dissapointing that the initial posts are negative... The sad fact is, architecture has no real point as a class right now - it's a skill needed to make buildings, but once you make master architect you are unable to make anywhere near the profit of other master artisans, and the time you spend sitting in front of a crafter is HUGE to make even a simple building. My thought was that to enable more objects to be built might salvage a broken class.
Mechanic would be a good profession. They'd have low level for vehicles and high level for spaceships.
But the problem is that theoretically vehicles will be out before the space expansion. I doubt they will introduce a new profession that can only build half their stuff. Not even half, in fact, since there are only going to be 2 vehicles. Not much to base a profession on. And they won't introduce one that relies on the expansion before it comes out.
Philomorph, you've got a good point there. The objection seems to be the term "architect" not fitting well. Ok, call architects "Structurists" or something... Make it the class of artisans who make LARGE things.
they should make a new class for spacecraft and speeders like engeener
if you think it should be something else say it
"I think you're all wrong about speeders. I bet you anything that you buy speeders from NPCs. There are only two varieties of speeders, folks! Not to mention that I'm sure the Devs are looking for another money sink to help decrease the money supply."
A few comments:
1. There should definitely be a new profession for building vehicles. I would even argue that there should betwo new professions, one for land and one for space.
2. Maybe speeders are limited to two models but they could be buffed in any number of ways. I expect a wide selection of components to be a main aspect of vehicle design.
3. I hope Boba Fett style jet packs are included in the plans. If not I will cry.
4. Is there even enough ore on the Big 3 planets these days to build a single starship??
5. I volunteer to be a money sink should the devs lack any other ideas.
