Thread: My list of reasons why Architect is screwed up

This is what I think messes up architect:

1) No quality differentiation: Harvester made by "just started" architect is exactly same as one made by master architect

2) Architect is EASY to master: Yes, it is easy. Once you have your harvesters set up and your resource suppliers lined up it is a pretty **edit** easy road upto master. You hardly need to do the amount of resource hunting some other professions have to do and you get a LOT of xp REAL fast if u can get resources real fast. As a result, lot of people have been attracted to architect.

3) No forced decay: As long as you pay maintenance, you are good to go. Imagine how worse weaponsmith or armorsmith would be if this was true for weapons and armor.

I firmly believe this are the 3 fundamental differences that takes some of the pleasure out of architect.

Architect is kinda easy to master but only because it is easy to be powerleveled as one. All my weaponsmith friends have PLENTY of resource and hardly run out. Their only challenge is the grind, which to me is cake I can grind easily for 10+ hours racking up the exp, or hell when factories were giving full exp I could have boughten a few and quadruple the amount of exp i receive.

Architect is only easy because there is no grind, I am also pretty sure it is the most expensive out of them all and critical failures can hurt alot. Easy for a guild to produce a master architect hard for someone using only ten lots to do, currently im using 15 and its not an easy challenge.

You must be doing something wrong then. I am not in a guild and I have never been able to play more than 5 hours in a row. I mastered architect 2 weeks ago. I can only play little on weeknights and decent amount on weekends. I have 10 lots.

  • Change it so that all harvesters must require you to have Survey 4.

  • Increase the Experience needed for each tree by 10,000/20,000/30,000/40,000 experience.

  • Force Medium Houses and Large Houses to be created by factories only.

Hehe house change wont help. I am a master architect and the only house past small house I have EVER made is Medium house for myself.

I know too many architects with 2 3 accounts who mine for them and then they sell for ridiculously low price. This needs to be stopped..somehow.

Ahhh, but they DON'T HAVE TO PAY MAINT. So, that means they have to pay to have weapons repaired. It is the same thing really, but people with weapons don't have to pay QUITE as much.

Its not the same thing. I would rather not have maintenance. Right now the way it is you have to pay same amount of maintenance whether your harvester is 1 day old or 1 year old. So there is NO incentive to kill it and get a new one. Get it?

2-3 accounts? Can't you only have 1 acct per server?

I just play. I sell furniture, I've met a ton of nice people, my furniture goes off my vendor sometimes faster than I can put it on there.. I am not grinding and I am almost lvl 3-4 of the architect line.. I also work on my pistoleer side when I have a few days resources stocked in my harvies..

I don't try hard, I socialize often, and I just play.. no need to be uber, and my rate of rise is just fine.

The devs need to create a "miner" profession that would take Exp Points away so every tom, **edit** and Harry with survey 1 couldnt throw harvesters up. Anyone can buy Medium harevsters and toss them out there and continue up combat trees while mining tons or resources.

Houses should need to be replaced in 2-3 months. Basically one day in SWG is realistically like 2-3 years to an average 2 hour a day player. Base the depreciation off of some scale like that. Turn over weapons, armor very fast. Create return demand on products.

My opinion anyway.

Thats 1 character per server. If you buy several copies of the game you get new security keys to create new accounts and those accounts can each have 1 character on the same server.

Now they might come up with a way of stopping this thru billing issues but still if someone was determined enough they would just pay for each account with a different credit card.

Shaddam why would they stop this? This is exactly what they want, more subscribers. Does not matter of the $$ comes from one account or 2 accounts it is just as green. In fact second accounts are probably more desirable since they are probably played a lot less as they are probably used primarily for slots. This reduces average load / subscriber resulting in more net profit for SOE.

Sure that one "human" can get an edge by having another account, and why shouldn't they, they are paying more real world $$ for that privilige.

I would not be suprised to hear that the multi-account subscribers bonus was not at least expected if not intended when deciding to go with 1 char per server. This game is very expensive in terms of storage / player, the more $$ they get the more hardware they can buy and the more content they can add. I mean we have not even got to mounts, vehicles or even *shudder* space ships yet.

look having resources makes any professional crafter easy to master. If you have tons of materials you can pop out tons of stuff. You get lots of creation xp and if you sell it, in the cases of the other professions, you get uxp as well. You just happen to get a whole lot more creation xp due to the huge amounts of resources architects chew up in creation of goods.

Experimentation is MESSED UP ! .... oddly enough there is a stat bar for extraction efficiency on harvesting mechanisms but hey ... layed components are broken they don't transfer to the final product, experimentation STILL sometimes drops your stat bar when it is successfull, master architects have 55 experimentation skill ? I guess it doesn't matter when it's broken anyway. So shirt order is that we pump out cookie cutter items and might as well use the crappiest resources we can find in abundance because it doesn't matter much .... That's my biggest gripe with Architecture.

Furniture functionality! I still don't get how hard it is to tie an armoire skin with a storage object in the code and add an open tab to the radial. Let's get some usefull furniture in the houses huh ? ... lamps that don't shine light. torches that can't be placed out by the front door where they should be instead of in the house, no color variety in fabriced/hided furniture, table top items not being able to be placed where they should be.... I'm sure there's more but you get the idea.

Group interaction, there's no way for someone who provided me resources to build something to know I criticaled some of it or all of it short of me getting their home e-mail addy logging the experience and maybe screenshotting it to boot.

I know there's more that gripes me about this profession but I'm drawing a blank atm fill in the blanks if ya like.
