I get a tell the other day. Someone wants to buy a small house, asks me my price. When I tell him 10.5 k, I get a "LOL, uhh, ok". I originally start to try and educate my possible customer and explain the amount of resources required, and that 10.5k is little over 3 creds per. I also explain that the house does not decay, and that all other crafting professions charge allot more per.

After a bit more sarcasm from this person, I ask to explain to me what I get out of making houses for the cost, or less than the cost the materials sell for. I told him if he could show me some benifit, that I would give him a house.

This is what I got in response...

1) I get xp... I don't need xp, even if I did, using that logic, I supose anyone that gets xp crafting something is obligated to sell there wares for 3 cred per. DX2's under 1000 anyone? LOL.

2) I get my name out there... Ok, ill bite on this. I get my name out, I get more customers. That implies that more customers will make my 3/cred per problem go away. Ill make more money. Problem with that. If I get my name out, do I get a larger profit margin? People that cried about 3 creds per for a small house, where they gonna magically start wanting to pay 4,5,6 or 7 credits per for bigger structures? Nope.

So what this clownis basically saying, is I should sell for less than resources, so I can get more customers and sell for less resources to allot of people. Sort of like some public welfare housing project. Sorry, I don't do public welfare projects.

I do not understand why people think architects should take a pile of resources that is worth X credits, put time effor in gathering and crafting them into something, that is going to sell for X-1 credits, you are sadly mistaken. Ill sell you the materials at the price you are willing to pay for the house, and you can go live in that.

What I am about ready to do, is stockpile a bunch of heavy extractors, a few houses of each size, then sell back architect skills. I am getting tired of fighting miners for extractor space or good resource veins. They buy my extractors at some piddly price, dump it out there, sell the resources they never use to craft anything, then cry to me when I want to charge a reasonable amount for the thing.

Guess if they had to use a day and 1/2 to pay it off, it would be too much work.

In actuality, I think I am either going to stop making anything, unless people actually pay me more than what I could sell the resources for.

I believe though, it is all coming to a head, and the lowballer architects and price scalping miners are going to be in for a rude awaking. As more and more architects refuse to work for slave wages and either become a miner, or just stop being an arhitect, people are gonna be forced to pay fair amounts.

Proof being, I have gotten many tells in the past week, offering me ore, metal, or whatever. The prices keep going down to. Before, it was hard to find resources to buy, now it seems as though people are desperate to sell them, resorting to sales pitches with tells.

You non architects see what you are doing, and what you are going to get?

Fewer architects means at some point, anyone that needs something, is gonna have to pay the REAL price, or do without.

Why run from the harvestor, crafting station, harvestor, crafting station, harvestor crafting station, vendor, argue with some rude, uninformed people looking for public housing assistance, just to make X credits,

When you can just run to the harvestor, the bazaar then the bank?

When the miners outnumber the architects, you will wonder why... what was the tell I got the other day.. "why medium houses are so hard to find." As a matter of fact, when most of the architects give up in frustration, I hope the ones remaining start charging what weaponsmiths charge... ie.. dx2 that takes 240 resources, which is 125 per resource....

Maybe a 75 million credit guild house stuffed in some peoples you know wheres will change some attitudes.

Our Guild sells small houses for 10k, that is what our Master Arquitect told us to do, so 10.5k for a small house is kind of pricey dude. All the resources that our Architect needs are in a small storage house next to our Guild Hall so he does not have to walk to gather them.

I know I won't pay it. If I don't have the materials to craft, I won't. The exception to that is hides. I am not a combat profession so I need to buy them.

What gets my wookiee underwear in a bunch is people that supply said resource complaining about the cost of an item they provide the resource for.

A real example...

In Anchorhead, some player(a scout) standing by the bazaar, complaining "why does the cost to furnish a house cost more than the house?"

At the time I was browsing the market looking for hides to make some furniture. Low and behold, I found some for sale, with that same player, being the owner." The cost was around 20 credits per unit.

I guess some people are nothing but bumbs looking for handouts. Somehow me, or anyone in my profession was suposed to make him furniture at our cost, then just give it away.

Guess he forgot that if I am making a piece of furniture that costs me 3000 in purchased resources, that maybe the final price is going to be at least 3001. Maybe he knows that, and just thinks everyone else plays this game for his benefit. Perhaps we can do that, all all mail him a check at the end of every month as well.

Please, please, read the ENTIRE post. That comment proves absolutely that you missed my point.

Pricey according to what? If you read anything on these architect boards you would understand that structures are the most undperpriced goods in the game. Whats more overpriced... a weapon that takes 240 resources to make and is 125 TIMES per resource, or a structure that takes 3000 and is 3 TIMES per?

Sorry "dude" but guns are over priced, not my small house at 3.2 credits per.

Anyway, even buying into your logic, how does anextra 5%, or500 above what you sell them for some how makes it go from reasonable to pricey? You have a poblem with adjectives.

I am not for any kind of price fixing though, what market value is, well.... is. It sucks for the profession, but will suck even more for everyone else when the prices go back to real, when enough architects quit or quit and become miners.

It is a bad day to be an architect. With all the resources needed, you have to work 50 times as hard(resource gathering) for 2% as much profit(3 cred per as apposed to other professions 15-125 per).

But hey, if people like all the extra work for a miniscule amount of benefit, more power to them.

GMT,

I wish that was the issue, but it isnt.

I for one have never said you were overpriced. But the issue is that more and more architects are selling to fewer and fewer customers. That is calleda buyers market and you cant blame peoplefor lowering prices to try and attract a minority of customers.

All businesses work that way.

When there is a glut of products and a trickle of demand, prices drop.

What this guy that you are talking about doesn't realized is that there is a limited number of people per server and when everyone has what they want - then what?

Don't let idiots like this guy get you down , there are plenty more people that will be more than happy to buy a small house for 10.5K.

That is the point.... I cant believe you dont get it.

The fact that fewer and fewer people are asking for the stuff is WHY prices are dropping. When no one wants a hosue the price will drop too zero, you cant give something away that no one wants. ( wont ever be true for houses, but it might get close )

When demand is greater than supply prices rise

When demand is lower than supply prices fall

This is not a difficult concept to grasp.

I must say that I am with the spirit of the original poster. I am stockpiling harvesters. I am stockpiling factories. I am not stockpiling any houses, why should I? They are easy to find for less than material cost on my server. I am leaving the profession due in part toa minor oversight by the DEV's, but also do to the opthers of US in the profession who are doing cut rate pricing to begin with.

The pricing problem could be fixed in an hour if every architect agreed to do something about it. But we didn't and we don't. No one though the consequences through about what it would mean for us to set/accept low pricing to begin with, and now it is over.

Here are some 10 simple facts.

1) Resources sell for 3cr/u.

2) If you sell a finished product for less that 3cr/u you are an idoit. You are giving resources=money away for free.

3) If you sell a finished product for 3cr/u you are still an idoit. You are giving labor=money away for free.

4) If you sell a finished product for more than 3cr/u you understand business. Costs of production should be less than what the final cost is.

5) If you cannot sell a finished product for more than 3cr/u, then you need to do something else to make money, like selling resources.

6) A lot of idiots become Architects because they believe it will make them rich.

7) If you really enjoy being an architect and are not in it for the money, then you can sell cheap with pride with one condition. Keep in mind that roads of given and take are two ways. If you are helping people by giving out cheap structures, then they should be helping you. If you provide a tailor with cheap chem harvesters, they should provide you with cheap synth cloth, ect... ect...

8) Letting people use you by telling you you are over priced to get your prices down is not a good thing. You are not a door mat, that is a fact. Don't allow greedy people to use you as such by calling you 'greedy' to make you drop your prices.

9) If all the idoits that played architects knew these facts and lived by them, prices would actually be fair for everyone in this profession.

10) Most importantly there is an /ignore command.

By all means explain why you feel any of those facts are wrong rather than just stating that they are. Otherwise it is just trolling.

Most of those facts are based off the fact that resources sell for 3cr/u, ie the actual worth of resources. You'll find a hard time disputing those facts as long as resources sell for that amount. Yes you can find resources for less than 3cr/u. Yes you can find resources for a lot more than 3cr/u. The average and rather standard price is 3cr/u. You can turn a profit at 2cr/u, but you can turn more of a profit at 3cr/u, i.e. you lose out at 2cr/u.

Really feel free to talk about this rather than just saying they are wrong.

They are so obviously wrong I didn’t think I needed too for most people, but I can explain it to you if you need me too.

1) Resources sell for 3cr/u.
Wrong, some sell for 10 Cr/u ( high quality ) others sell for 1cr/u ( power on some planets ) It is a fluid price and currently dropping on most servers. There is no set price for resources

2) If you sell a finished product for less that 3cr/u you are an idiot. You are giving resources=money away for free.
Wrong, I am not giving away anything, what I am doing is building a larger customer base as prices fall on my server. There are actually very few things that I sell for less than 3 cr per unit, but calling me or anyone an idiot that can see where the market is headed is disingenuous. In fact the name calling you do has me wondering about your own IQ.

3) If you sell a finished product for 3cr/u you are still an idiot. You are giving labor=money away for free.
Wrong, I don’t do any labor in SWG, Im here for the fun. So far I am having a blast, but since I am making a large profit selling for 2.5 - 3.5 cr a unit what cost me less than .5 cr to make my labor costs are also covered quite nicely.

4) If you sell a finished product for more than 3cr/u you understand business. Costs of production should be less than what the final cost is.
Wrong, You are holding to a fantasy price while the market fluctuates. There are many companies that tired to do that in the real world in the last few years, they are all out of business because they don’t understand business. When you quit the Architect profession because you wont sell for less than a set price when I continue to make very large profits off my resources that cost me .5 cr each that wont mean you are successful and I am not, quite the opposite.

5) If you cannot sell a finished product for more than 3cr/u, then you need to do something else to make money, like selling resources.
Wrong, fast profit is NOT my only goal, you may set yoru own goals however you want, but you don’t get to set mine for me.
6) A lot of idiots become Architects because they believe it will make them rich.
Wrong, Just about every seller of resources is an architect, and at the outrageous prices they get for them they are getting rich very nicely.

7) If you really enjoy being an architect and are not in it for the money, then you can sell cheap with pride with one condition. Keep in mind that roads of given and take are two ways. If you are helping people by giving out cheap structures, then they should be helping you. If you provide a tailor with cheap chem harvesters, they should provide you with cheap synth cloth, ect... ect...
The only thing you said that was even close to true, I sell for less with price because I answer to my customers. My customers gauge how good I am, not other architects.

8) Letting people use you by telling you you are over priced to get your prices down is not a good thing. You are not a door mat, that is a fact. Don't allow greedy people to use you as such by calling you 'greedy' to make you drop your prices.
Wrong, letting others use you by telling you to keep your prices high is being a door mat. They want you to help them with their business instead of taking care of your own. I have not every tried to tell others to set a low price, you are free to set your price wherever you want. The only people complaining are the ones that want you to set a high price, and they are the ones trying to use people.

9) If all the idoits that played architects knew these facts and lived by them, prices would actually be fair for everyone in this profession.
Wrong, if you knew the first thing about business you wouldn’t call others that do understand it, idiots.

10) Most importantly there is an /ignore command.

Ok you said 2 correct things..

2 out of 10... man that is a really poor score.
