I am proposing that base construction be the responsibility of the architect profession.

A quest would be drawn up for each factions architect, and once achieved a factionally aligned architect would be granted limited run (more than weapons schems, maybe 20-25 per schem) schematics for certain types of bases. These quests would be similar to the DWB concept where a team of players would be needed to complete the quest but the architect would play a central role. There would be a variety of quests for the full range of base types. A timer would be set on the quest so that a single architect could only obtain a specific schematic every 72 hours.

Therefore, when we do spend money on bases the money would be going to a player profession, keeping the money circulated within our community.

Furthermore, new content would be created for all players, especially for Architects (of which I am not).

Additionally, it would slow down the progressively growing number of bases being bought and deployed on some servers, resulting in negative effects on system performance.

Wow, I am completely shocked that no architects posted here yet. Im hoping to get feedback from this community, as I am not an architect and do not want to represent the profession without input.

Think your proposal sounds great I am all forgroup/community queststhats why I play swg and not WOW as I love the social side of this game

but from seeing the way that anything that stops cash dumps leaving the game ala city tax/garages etc never gets fixed it seems to me cash dumps are favoured

Altho I doubt we would see less factional bases more like we would see the "usual suspects"(by usual suspects i refer to the jokers that lot swap and undercut everyone else just for theheck of it)spamming in theed and cnet merrily floading the market with factional bases

please don't get me wrong I think your proposal is great and anything new to architect is fine by me

I think you'll find that for something that is a blatantly obvious thing for architects to do the devs will have already considered it prior to implementation and decided, once again, to ignore us. Not much point arguing in favour of changing something that they must have considered and rejected up front.

I understand how you all justifiably feel. But what I would suggest is that as a community you unify with those of us who are doing to same in the GCW forums and fight for a single simple thing.

I think sometimes so many ideas get thrown out that it becomes difficult to sort out the good from the waste of time. But I intend to get one solid idea pushed through to completion. In doing so we will figure out the path we need to repeat if we want solid ideas to get through to the devs and into the game.

Heh, we've had no success getting any of our top issues addressed. Almost all the architect changes occurred either from the input of other groups or without any input from us.

Hmmm....

Maybe we could get the shipwrights to propose aweaponsmith-built to Gungan-head linear accelerator towhack starships in orbit. That would benefit three professions, and give an added new challenge to three others.

It would give me a reason to become a reb again. Also give us something in the destruction of bases.

I have always supported the idea of letting architects build GCW structures in some manner.

Perhaps a compromise is in order. It might work nicely if the bases themselves were still made available by trading in faction points, but the PvP bases would require different components to stay active. The architects would craft the components. I would model it after the multi-player ships in JTL. Components could include:

Communications Array

Reactor Core

Turrets

Internal Scanners

External Scanners

Computer Banks

Watcha think?
