Well here's my first stab at a basic FAQ. I don't think I'm reinventing the wheel here, but if such a thread already exists then just give it a bump cause I missed it.

Please help me to correct anything I have wrong. I'd appreciate any good question/answer additions to this version and then I'll collect the whole thing and post another version at rev 1.0 once it gets polished up, nitpicked and flamed.

These are questions that people will often ask Architects either in the Architect forum here, in server specific forums or in person when in game. These are not FAQ's about how to be or become an Architect.

HOUSES

Q: How much do houses cost? (asked in forums)

A: This varies widely from server to server and from architect to architect. Contact the local architects on your server for pricing. You may pay more for a ready made deed than if you have to wait. However realize that most houses and harvestors take a lot of materials to make so the prices are in the thousands to hundreds of thousands.

Q: How many lots does a house take?

A: Smalls = 2, medium = 2, Large = 6, Guild = 9 except Naboo round small = 1 and Tatooine Guild = 7.

Q: How much can you store in a house?

A: The rule is 75 per lot with a max of 250, which translates to:

Smalls or medum = 150, Large or Guild = 250. Naboo round small = 75.

Q: What does maintenance cost for a house?

A: Daily maintenance is: Small = 384, Medium = 816, Large = 1200, Guild = 2400

Q: What do the houses look like?

A: Pictures and floorplans are available on several player sites, like:

http://www.swgarchitect.com

http://www.ratwhackers.com

The official SWG site has images as well on a Friday Feature from 9/26/03:

http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/content.jsp?page=Player%20Houses%20Index

Q: How come it won't let me build my house?

A: You need to outside of the no build zone around a city in order to build a house. Usually you can't build within 500 or 1000 meters of a house. Also, you there can not be obstructions like other structures and the house needs to be on somewhat level ground. Make sure you've got enough lots available too.

Q: How much does it cost to redeed a house?

A: ???? - Not sure on this, is it double maintenance cost?

FURNITURE

Q: How do I move furniture?

A: You can select the item and then use the radial menu options to move forward or back and rotate left or right.

Or the command /move [forward|back] x will move the item x distance and /rotate [left|right] will rotate 90 degress or /rotate [left|right] y will rotate y degrees.

Furniture is moved in reference to the character's viewpoint so if you move it foward then it will move away from you.

Q: How do I hang things on the wall?

A: Some items drop at a certain height by default such as backpacks. Furniture items including such things as table lamps drop on the floor by default. To move these items up the only way to do so currently is to walk up a flight of stairs and drop the item and then move them off the stairs.

Q: How do I turn on the free-standing lamp?

A: Right now you can't. Torches are the only lamp style that actually gives off light.

Q: Can you make me a chest, cabinet, etc. that I can put stuff into?

A: None of the furniture items created by Architects allow you to put stuff inside of them. The only exception that kind of fits the bill is the Crafting stations. You can hang backpacks on the walls and use those for storage.

HARVESTERS / FACTORIES

Q: Which factory is used to make medical supplies?

A: The food factory is required to make medical items.

Q: How many lots does a harvester take?

A: All harvestors require 1 lot each.

However the physical clear and flat landscape squares required for medium and heavy harvesters is more than a personal.

Q: How much is maintenance and energy requirement for a harvester?

A: For mineral, chemical, fora, gas and water:

Personals: 720 credits and 600 energy

Mediums: 1440 credits and 1200 energy

Heavies: 2160 credits and 1800 energy

Energy collectors use:

Windmills: 1440 credits, Solar : 1440 credits, Fusion: 1440 credits.

Q: Can you build me a large windmill or a small solar generator?

A: There are 3 generators of energy: wind harvesters, solar generators and fusion generators. Wind harvestors are the personal size energy generator, solars are the medium level and fusions are the heavy.

I'm not an architect, I just came to this board for answers, and you, Pawlin, have answered a few.

However, I also want to know how well a medium and large harvester compares to a personal one. If i place a micro flora farm on a 70% spot, I'm guessing i can get about 2000-2400 units out of it in a day. how much can an Automated flora farm and high capacity flora farm get in that time on that spot?

I don't have a short quick answer for you but swgcraft.com has a great resource for figuing production and costs for harvesters.

Q: How much do harvestors produce?

For mineral, chemical, gas, flora:

personal size = 120 res * density /100 per hour

medium size = 240 res * density /100 per hour

heavy size = 420 res * density /100 per hour

For energy:

wind = 300 energy * density /100 per hour

solar = 480 energy * density /100 per hour

fusion = 780 energy * density /100 per hour

Example: a personal mineral harvestor on a 58% density would produce = 120 * 58 / 100 = 69.6 res per hour or 1670.4 res per day.

Here's a question, but it's only architect-related in that architects make furniture and houses and just might happen to know this:

How do you get a large sofa stuck out of the wall? (You know, the rounded one that's kind of tan/yellow in color. It allowed me to drop it in a way that won't let me target it, and now it's stuck.)

I've got a CSR ticket in now. I tried the /target thing they said to try in the knowledge base, too, but that doesn't seem to work on any item--even the ones that are perfectly fine where they are!

Any help on this would be appreciated. I hate bugging CSR just to pop a sofa out of my wall. (It's even jutting out! And I don't know of an item targeting button [like <tab> for targeting nearby NPCs].)

The forumla for the redeeding cost is 100 x maintenance rate. So if you have a harvester that has a maintenance rate of 30, the redeed cost is 3000.

Thanks much, Pawlin!

I hope that this thread can exist at the top of the forum without comments (like this one) making it longer.

Thank you Pawlin! The darn movers dropped a couch in my office and then they took an extended coffee break, walking off with the anti-gravs to move it with. Darn thing weighs a ton!

I'll try your suggestion to see if that helps!

Q: How do I target or pick up my round Couch / Couch II / Tan couch ?

A: This piece of furniture is apparently intermittently bugged for some people. You might try waiting a day and see if you have any better luck targetting the item. You can try using the /pickup <name> command where <name> is the name given to the couch such as "/pickup couch". Also if you have someone you trust a lot then you might give them admin rights to your house and see if they can target and move the couch (only do this with someone that you know won't rob you blind).

I'll help Pawlin a bit here, and explain the whole Actual KG/H and Max Rate KG/H.

Personals do 2.0 KG/H maximum. Mediums do 4.0 KG/H, heavies do 7.0 KG/H. Fusion generators do 13.0 KG/H. This "maximum" number is how much it can pull up if you were to drop it on a 100% vein of something.

Now, let's say you're standing over a 80% vein. You'd read this as being, "With my harvester, I can pull up 80% of it's maximum KG/H". So, if it was a medium you were holding (4.0 KG/H), you would pull up 80% of 4.0, which is 3.2 KG/H.

Okay, but what does "KG/H" mean? Well, think of that number as being "the amount of resources I can pull up per minute". So, if that 80% gives you 3.2 KG/H, read it as "I'm getting 3.2 units of resources per minute."

Translate that to daily by multiplying by 60 (minutes in an hour) and then 24 (hours in a day) , and you get your number of resources harvested daily (in our example of a medium harv on a 80% vein, that's 4608 units daily).

Another addition for your FAQ on placing items, might fall under the "Why can't I place it?" heading...
If there is a creature lair around, they make a LOT of the land yellow... So, if you have a perfectly flat spot and can't build because of yellows, make sure that there aren't any lairs around... I've seen some effect the land within 500m of it's location... Actually, wait, no, I'd have to say a screen or two, which is what? 100m? 200m?
Anyhoo, it's a big area...
