I think im kinda screwed.

Im a solo architect with no help and not enough time to afford and maintain 10 harvestors a day. Of course i took this profession before they nerfed the maintenance on the harvestors. As a matter of fact i took Novice Architect the night before the fix/nerf. Now I just wasted a week of crafting and I can get that xp back. I am dealing with that part but the problem is that th power grindeds killed the small house market. everybody who wants one has one ... I cant sell them which means i can't afford to run my harvestors which means I cant gather enough resources to make more houses so that I can advance. Is there anything within the architect line in high demand that is worth good xp and maybe enough cash to allow me with my limited time to be able to continue in this profession? Or should i just dump architect and choose a different route?

Try furniture. If "everyone who wants one has one" of the houses as you say (I doubt that), then they all need to decorate, don't they?

The only thing I'll say is... and I hate to rain on your parade.... I don't think the Architect is really well designed for the casual player. I put in probably 40-60 hours a week, and I'm just getting by.

Well I was doing fine before the maintenance nerf on the harvestors. And what makes me mad is they made this change the mornign after I took the novice architect class. 33k crafting xp gone. I can lose the skill but I have to work all over again to get another craftign profession. And to be honest I hear the other ones are bugged to crap. I stopped listing prices for the small house deeds I have and just asked for people to give an offer ......still cant sell a single house. I'll have to look into furniture. I never see anybody selling any in open channel though and I never hear anybody shouting to buy ...... maybe I just play during in-game recessions?

1) What price were you asking for the small houses, and what are you getting now?

2) Furniture would probably best be sold in a shop, I don't think you'll find people running around town looking for furniture

3) What method are you using to sell the homes?

I wouldn't let go of the architect class just yet, if you're doing it for my particular reason. I am a casual gamer in a casual gamer guild. Alot of us are moving over from EQ, so we need someone to build a PA hall. I decided to do that. It will take a while to get to that level of skill with just five harvesters and I hope that SOE will eventually add more objects for us to make. Do something else in the meantime, if you fulfill the above. I, for example, am working on master carbineer while I wait for harvesters to return product (admittedly, yet another leap of faith). Hopefully, when carbineers get looked at, we will be a viable force.

Wow, I have a bunch of hope.

I like your attitude. I too think things will continue to look up as they further develop the game. And I love being an Architect!

Glad to hear there's another optimist out there. I'm enjoying my place in the universe, as well.

Eep, I feel all warm and snuggly.

I still don't understand people not being able to keep up with costs. I have an armorsmith friend that can only play here 2-3 nights a week with a 4 day gap some times. We are both just rifle specialists and it takes us all of an hour or two to make 20k and he's got enough to run his harvesters until he comes back. You can master more than one class, 2 or 3 actually. Pick a weapon and go make some money while you're harvesting!

Terror I cant sell a house....

First Day...... 17.5k

Next couple of days....... 15k

up until earlier today...... 13.5k

Current....... Send tell with offer.

Currently standing in bestine near the crafting/starport/bank area.

I've managed to sell exactly 1 house... On a couple of occasions I was able to trade a house for some resources and I sometimes make houses for peopel who provide the resources but I havnt even been able to do that the last few days. It doesnt help when you have other people offering houses and crafting stations for 10k or less. thanx macgyver way to kill what little market there is.

means I need to do alot more general crafting to get my business skill up. yay grind!

I think you answered your own question, Zane. Architects are NOT armorsmiths. I seriously doubt your friend is dropping over 20,000 resources on a single craft (like a medium house).

Cyber:

OK, you answered it. It's your price. There's 100 posts in this forum about pricing, and nobody agrees. That being said, many many many people are selling smalls for 10K, and you CAN survive on that. I know, because I do. I wanted more too, and couldn't sell ONE, until I spoke with a bunch of other Architects on my server and found they were all doing 10K. My solution? I sold for 10K, and it worked. I've sold over 30 homes in the last two weeks, and NEVER for a credit less than 10K. I've even had some wonderful clients who understand the Arch pain and just paid me more than I asked, which was nice.

I think the BIGGEST thing people seem to miss in this class is that you're a MERCHANT. If you're not spending some of your time developing contacts, clients, and friends, then you're NOT going to succeed. I would venture a guess that at least 50% of my business is referral. You've got to sell yourself, in a sense, because anyone can make a house, only you can be YOU.

Except now Im not even posting a price and I still cant sell ahouse... nobody is willign to make an offer. Oh yea pardon all the switched letters I have a bit of typing dyslexia. ........ as im writing this Ive finally gotten a bite for 10k ...... so sad

Raw resources sell for between 5 and 10 credits per units... shouldn't small houses be selling for between 17k and 34k credits depending on current prices for resources.... Armorsmiths were able to base thier prices of their resource rates which are usually between 8-10 credits per resource. How come a house sells for less than a suit of armor. Even in this day n age when armorsmiths (IRL) are very rare, no suit of armor comes close to the cost of a house. They need to make houses decay or something otherwise the only architects that will make it are the PA-assisted power leveler grind monkeys. The slower of us will not have a market to sell to. Specially since as the servers get full they suspend new charactor creation.

Bestine is a bad place to sell houses, at least on Radiant server. What Kriterian doesnt understand is, that I have 30 or so machines, takes an hour or so to take care of them, then ya gotta go try to sell crap. If you go hunt, you dont sell. If you stand at the bank and dont sell, you go broke. Nice for your armorsmith that can place things on the bazaar, but it has a 3k maximum. Try standing there and selling for a while, that will eat up a lot of gaming time.

Other thought, I seem to be able to get by well for myself as an architect. I have better armor and weapons and droids than the marksmen/brawler types I group with. I see lots of architects trying to make $$ but cant, and soemtimes their prices are lower than mine. I think its all in appearence and presentation.
