Thread: Point of Admin on housing?

Ok, this has been bothering me since I got my first house. What's the point of Admin? I know it lets you assign other people that can add people to the list, but what's the point? I was under the impression that being an Admin would let you at the very least drop items in the house. My experience is limited to small houses though. With medium, large, or guild halls can somebody besides the owner ever drop or move items in the building? My friends and I share a house and this is very difficult as the owner has to be there to move or place any furniture, crafting stations, etc. Without the ability for others to access the "storage unit" that is the house, that makes guild halls useless in our eyes. Not to mention pretty much screws over us architects as we can never actually be the owner of anything above a small house due to lot restrictions. Which I have no complaints over, I understand the lot restrictions and think they're just fine. I would just like a list, or maybe an item that we can assign access to that allows items to be placed and picked up at the house without the owner being present. Especially with all the trade bugs, it can take forever to actually trade items. Would be much easier to just stick in the house or a safe or something. Does having a vendor allow this? Maybe a vendor with no prices in a private house that I could use for the storage and item transfers I want? Any ideas or information would be much appreciated. Thanks

As near as I can tell Admin access is broken. You can someone Admin access and Vendor access but that person cannot place the vendor, which is just silly. Item number 2, why can furniture items like chest be used to store resources. I have make travel packs to store items in because I hate all the clutter with dropping resources. Why can't admins of the house access these? I think they should let you make storage containers and set permission on them. But that is just me and I may be crazy.

You *should* be able to do all those things. You can't because the housing admin system is buggier than a picnic on an ant hill. And it's pretty seriously gating the merchant class.

yes this is extremely frustrating. I have most of my plots taken up by harvesters, which is cool cause well it helps. My buddy has a house and I have admin rights but sucks cause like stated above can not drop stuff, which I though was the whole point of haveing admin rights and having houses. Also the vendor that is a whole nothing issue I have given him vendor admin rights but I have to place everything on the vendor for sale, not a big deal but please fix the admin part of houses and vendors so they work porperly my back is starting to hurt from having to carrry everything with me and my packs are becoming full

At the end of Beta the Devs said it would be a couple of weeks to fix the ADMIN bug.

Of course it has been three weeks and not a word has been spokenabout it.

I've said this before, but we Architects need to be concerned when (or if) the Devs fix the Admin bug.

Once people can share houses, the demandfor homes will drop faster than a (insert your own crude joke here). Many players, especially combat types, will team-up with others to buy a house, in order to get pickup and drop permission. Why buy a house for yourself if you only want to use it as a convenient drop-off point?

Also, I can't help but wonder if the Devs are concerned about all the complaints they'll get if multiple people have pickup and drop permission in a structure. People will inevitably give permission to some shady player who will rob them blind. I suppose this has probably happened already with harvesters, but I imagine the Devs aren't anxious to get dozens of emails a day from players accusing others of robbing their houses.

It's not the Devs problem if you give the keys to your house to a "shady character".

If I allow a person access then they steal from me, I am the only one to blame.

Don't feel bad I have 3 lots "tied up" in some wierd bug they say if they delete the 3 harvesters, I placed when I made engineer 3 on the first weekend the game was up, I will lose them and be stuck with 7 for the life of my character. So I am stuck with a small house(2), 2 mineral Miners Med(2), solor power(1), factory(2), "lost," I hope not forever(3), you can see them at 5480,5994 on Naboo Radiant galaxy near the city of Kaadara. They have been under construction and the one was finished but all I can do is examine for about 3 weeks. Isn't that nuts?!

ironicly, this is a gating issue for merchants, but no one cares enough to address it.

there is a work around for people to place vendors in shop , but if your not carefull you can get it stuck on the other person's backpack.

all rather frustrating to me.

Understand JEDI EXP (exp based on normalized kills)

Master Elite Prof 3,891,000 exp / 4200 exp = 926 Rancors for Master Elite anything
Master LightSaber 15,280,000 exp / 1000 exp = 15280 Rancors for Master LS

This Admin issue makes Guild Halls basically useless. How can my guild store everything in it if the person who placed the guild has to be there to drop it? As admin you CAN move things with the text comands, but you can't pick anything up or drop it. Anything that can screw over merchants is totally being neglected. They'd rather make sure no one can store missions in their droids then worry about the items that are GHOSTED in our vendors. This Admin issue better clear up quick though.

Add to this the fact that there is an ITEM limit in houses. I can't even fully furnish my large house because I'm only allowed to place so many items. So not only are there no containers for houses, you can only have a certain number of items (and stuff in backpacks count I tried).

Merchant class is gimped, not only can you get only very limited amounts of xp, but the skills don't work. I surrendered Pistoleer yesterday to get my merchant custom ad barking. And wouldn't you know, it doesn't work. I'm going to be gone for 5 days and was hoping to let people know that the vendor will not be restocked until then. No break.

Admin lists are ridiculous. I've had so many people pass/wait to buy a house because they couldn't get them with friends. How are you supposed to run a successful business when you can't open your (Large) shop up to multiple artisans and hire them as employees. I have 3 vendors stuck in my inventory trying to get them a Merchant set up. The only way we've found is to use the stupid droid or terminal styles. Any NPC type just gets stuck.

Houses: Whats with the signs? My large shop doesn't even HAVE a sign. Great for advertising!

And whats with the vendors eating all your stuff when you move them? Where does it say that you have to empty your vendor when you move it/upgrade it? And the stuff you don't remove just stays in your stockroom forever and you can't get it out. LAME

Admin lists working for factories would be great. 1 person able to use a factory is just ridiculous.

The only system that works in this game is the combat system, which IMHO is very boring, why spend all the time making your crafting system so dependant upon players and so detailed, when we can't sell our wares through any effective means. And don't say the bazaar is effective. What happens if you actually want to sell your house for more than the cheesey price of 3,000credits?

My friend just lost his whole account (my armorsmith at the shop) because of the delete bug and with all these stupid bugs I'm about to relinquish my #1 architect spot on Sunrunner and reroll a straight Creature Handler.

This might help increase the housing market actualy. Provided we keep the prices where we need them this will be ok. I have sold 3 mediums to "teams" already. They pick one guy and that guy places the items for display for the other folks. They all share one vendor.

Of course after a few "I was robbed" horror storys start to circulate it may go back to the way it is now.

If people could share a house it probably would increase your sales, especially of large houses. Why? Because people who otherwise wouldn't get a house at all, would get one with friends.
