Thread: Resource shift on Server Reset!
I posted this in the main discussion forum, we need to get this acknowledged as a bug somehow.
Well it was pretty much confirmed last night on Intrepid that resource shifts can be caused by a server reboot ( or however they "reset" the server after itwent down). I run a PA and had one of my best players just quit on the spot. We had spent the entirty of tueday sampling the entire surface of corellia for new ore, aluminum, copper, and steel. All in all about 8 hours of surveying and plopping down new harvesters.
*Heres another reason why this impacted us so hard, were master architects, there are 6 architects in the guild2 are masters (apx 50 members total). If you understand the process for making all the "large" structures youknow you need alot of the same types (ok as an architect you need tons) of resources to be able to make the right schematic and then make enough identical components in a factory to be able to make those large structures.*
Then whammo, at around 11:30 MST, the server goes down. Ok no biggie goto chat, problem with the login server they say, people still in the world etc, after about 500 people come into chat the CSR final starts believing us that its offline and gets his supervisor to contact "ops" about intrepid. Ok he says its going to get "reset".
A few minutes later log back in and BAM every single resource is new. I put in a ticket and go back to chat and the CSR is basically "its part of the game"... I spend 15 minutes trying to explain that EVERY harvester on intrepid is down and EVERY resource is brand new because they "reset" the server. Nothing Nada, a fricking brick wall.
Ok so i get back on and tell everyone its a done deal we gotta move again. It's frickin late people had stayed up late the previous night for the normal shift and now at midnight/early morning we have to do it the next day or becomeinsanely far behind in orders/etc. One person just said "sorry thats it fellas I can't take this anymore, too much like work, and im not going to pay to beta test, I might be back in a month im sorry i just can't take it", and bam one master architect is gone. Everyone else was pissed as h$%^ we got started moving everything but didn't finish as most of us had to sleep.
Does SOE have any idea what this is doing to their dedicated crafting base? I mean we all accept that resources shift every so often, but it became clear as day last night that they have a problem understanding how to "reset" there servers so the resources come back properly. And my attempts to log this were met with "resources change its part of the game". H&*( no this isn't part of the game, not knowing how to reset the world is a frickin monstrous bug and you guys need to acknowledge this.

Wow! That just sucks is all I can say. I am keeping very close track of resource shifts on several planets on the tarquinas server. I am getting pretty good at predicting when things will move. Something like what your describing just sucks and would whipe me out.
Teiwaz
Go read the intrepid boards it was a nightmare.
I just want to be perfectly clear the previous night resources which had been up over a week shifted, aluminum, copper, ore, and steel.
This is a bug, this has nothing to do with frequency. I mean every harvester on every planet on intrepid went down and every single last resource was new. Can u imagine the impact if this can happen everytime they "reset" the server. The have a broken "reset" process and we need to start screaming very loud about this, just wait til this happens to you!
It happened on lowca a week and a half ago. We had 3 resource shifts in 4 days. I moved all my harvesters 3 times in 4 frelling days. I was with that other master architect. After the 3rd moving I was fed up, I told my guild people (cousins and friends in real life) that I am quitting this game if it happened again in the next day or two. Luckily it didnt happen.
And each time it happened after they shut off the servers and most likly reset them too. It is a major problem and if SOE was smart they would get on the ball. It can irritate even the most hardcore videogamers and will cause mass quitting, screwing up SOE's bills.
It must be fixed.
Yes - It has been a nightmare in Bria too.
It seemed every day last week I was frantically running for new spots.
Hehe - it is what is making this game great and not just another churn.
I belive I have the staying power to make a success of my char. - do you ?
You think its difficult for a group of you to keep up ?
Try soloing it .
I sit here today knowing I have covered it for a while - and it is the best sense of achievement I have felt in a game.
At the time I moaned too, but then that is how I always react when presented with a difficult task.
Ha yes Bria too has had resource density cut this spawn.
My god did I cover some miles confirming that I wasnt missing something
Still , maybe next time it will be better than ever, or not.
If it is then it will make life easier eh . But having to pull in the old belt and refine efficiency will do me at least some good, and help maximise profits and minimise prices in the future.
Gulp - no Ali.
That truly sux.
I also agree that isfar pasttime they quit using us as beta testers.
Well, maybe if the resources started SLOWing down first so we have a Clue that it is going to change soon, then we can make some sort of plans or arrangements with customers, etc. This just ALL of a sudden stuff is what is killing everyone. And besides, if we are going to do this realistically, Miners would be aware that a resources is getting to the end, not just come to work one day and poof no more resources. So if this is suppose to be more or less realistic, then it should be a slow decay of the resources not just all of a sudden. Maybe drop the resources to Half of the normal and then a few days later then a change or something. Then you can say oops need to make plans to change spots.
