Thread: Crafters and Armour in the Curb

I finally got some spare time ( Finally filled my few orders) and went on the Test Server to look at the Curb, my first thoughts are the following,

1. Pure Crafters get NO armour except Bio-Engineer , Well this is just stupid , I can build Turbines, Power Plants, Mining Harvesters , Houses and Wall Modules, But I am too stupid to put on Armour ? Heck I go to dangerous places too and I want some Protection form the hostles. ( Now that being said under the Curb if I keep my template I will be able to wear Amour, but at a cost of my Mechant Skills, I have Novice Merchant and that is about it for me)

2. Architects so far do not get any new houses or frunture from what I seen and Heard, But it is alittle early in the test so I will have to see how that pans out, I hope the new planet is going to be buildable but I hear it will most likly not be.

3. Played around with the combat interface and well I am not impressed, but then again I think it still is alittle early for the final Judgement.

4. Crafters do not even get a Health Bonus, seems alittle oddforSOE to give to players who are combat more hitpoints just because they mastered more Combat professions , but do not give crafters any bonus even thought you have mastered 2 Elite Crafting professions then on top of that do not give them Amour to boot, Guess it will make traveling to Dangerous places more challanging, I can just hear the NPC's Now "Oh Look a Crafter lets Eat him for a snack "

So that is about all I can really see at the moment-

With that said I will say I am concerned about the lack of anything offered to our class or others who are crafting heavy , I would love to give up my last COmbat skills to free up some points to increse my crafting lines, Would love toTake up some Droid Engieering ,, it is just hard to decide until I see how things go, I just do not like the idea of going to far off Places with out my trusty Armour, and I am not about to ask my guildies for a escort everytime I want go to my harvisters,

Lets just hope SOE will at least offer some cert. for Armour for crafters and lets hope that they will look into the health issue .

People have characters without any combat skills LOL? Why? How stupid can you get? This is Star Wars not SimCity. You can't just build stuff without being able to fight and defend yourself, It's a dangerous world(s) out there. The only places I conistently find resources over 90% are Yavin IV and Lok, not friendly neighbourhoods. There's no need to master a combat profession. But if you can't find the skill points required to have at least 1 2nd tier combat ladder up to level 4 (in my case carbine marksmanship) you deserve a trip to the cloner. Maybe we should petition SOE to make a new Darwin Badge for anyone with no combat skills. If you have it you're not allowed to be force sensitive at all and your credit limit is reduced to 1 million, or am I being too generous?

It's not an MMORPG anymore, just an ORPG. The only thing massive is the extent to which SOE screwed up and there's not going to be anyone left for multiplayer

Quick question for you, as I have not yet or probably will have the time to check it out.

My crafting template is as follows:

Master Architect

Master Artisan

Master Merchant

Novice DE

Tailor 0/2/0/0

I have enough skill points left for Brawler 0/0/3/0. Will I at least be able to wear bone armor?

I have a pure crafter... Master Arch, Master Art, Master DE, Merch 3404. No combat skills at all, and never will need them. I regularly place harvesters on Dath, Yavin, and Endor without much difficulty...and no, I don't wear armor or buff either. Caution and communityis the name of the game when playing this type of character. Nasties camping my harvesters? Call on a guild mate to assist. Primo location covered in lairs? Find another spot, or call for assistance. Better yet...get a good combat droid or pet and worry no more

From what I have seen Boromiere you have to at least have Novice in a elite Combat style to get a Amour Cert. so for example if you have Nocie Smuggler ( Like I do ) you get a cert for reconnisance Armour. I would look at the seeing if you can not free up some points in like Pistoleer or smuggler and that should get you a arour cert. I let me Master Merchant go to have enough for the following and it seems to work ok , just offering you soe insight, this is not a uber template but it helps

Pistoleer 0020 Smuggler 0010

Might play around and let pistolleer go to have a few spare points for some DE so the final templat ewould look something like this

Marksman Pistols 4

Brawler unarmed 4

Smuggler 0020

Novice Merchant

Master Artisan

Master Architect

and something like DE 2014 Not quite sure on the finals for that but will be something like that, The Smuggler Feign death has come in handy for me, but your results my vary. As far as using a Good Battle droid that also helps... I hope this information helps

Currently 4444 Artisan, Master Architect, 2414 Merchant.
Novice Medic
4000 Brawler
0022 TK

I plan to drop at least one box of merchant, maybe 3.

CU goal, if I can, is to keep Novice TK and Novice Medic.

Ick, ground combat sux! Now I have to fight, just to check my harvs and re-stock my shop in the Bestine ring. Stoopid!

As for that dummy who thinks everyone should fight; How about we force you to to builda few harvesters every day, just so you can get out there and fight?

SonOfAGhost how about YOU sticking to your beloved combat MINUS all the stuff WE craft for you lets see like Weapons/Armor/Swoops/Food/Buffs/stims even the house you dump your loot in

the reason a lot ofcrafters HAVE no combat skills is they are dedicated to crafting and spend their ingame time making YOUR life easy by crafting these items you consume and then spending skill points making it easy for you to find them on a vendor

so without these dedicated crafters YOU would be the one declaring residance in the local cloner

if we do what you propose, you will see how diversity of goods you could buy will get at least halved. If that is fine with you ... bueno. But anyhow, i do not see the point in this whole armor cert non-sense. Neither on a realism based level nor on a game concept level. Nobody on earth is too stupid to wear armor .... they might be too unskilled to MOVE in armour but not to WEAR armour. While its quite clear that you will have a poor offense rate, you might argue if you would get a better or a worse defense rate if you wear an armor you are not certified for, but when it comes to wearing there is not discussion that everybody is able and should be able to wear the armor he wants.

Personally i thing everybody should be able to wear armor, and that you should get dramatic decrease of your offense rating (maybe even moving rate while unmounted) and a moderate increase of defense rate (but not full values) when you wear armors you are not certified for. I dont think that would interfere with any of the (original) objectives of the CURB. Makes sense, doesnt it ?

But since "sense" is something yet to be seen on the TC, i doubt that such proposal has a chance to make it into live .... 3 more weeks to play this game we loved, then its over ...
