Thread: Another candle bug -> no decay
Message Edited by Bandola on 03-30-2004 10:46 PM
ah, I did not read anything about it so far, sorry for bringing it up again.
But it realy looks like everything that could went wrong went wrong -> first they decay in crates, then they dont stop burning.
For the programmining issue: I dont know how SWG works, but maybe it is not even possible to check or change the state of an object (from burning to not burning) - when the are in the house and not in the players inventory.
This is typical of the way items are being added at the moment. I can't believe this had enough time spent in testing by the devs let alone before it hit test centre. If an item that is supposed to decay, you would think it is the very first thing to get tested.
As a programmer myself I know that you can't test for every eventuality, but a bug that is essential to the operation of the object should really be the first thing checked - there is no way bugs like these should be hitting the live product.

This brings up another point.
Experimentation on candles and lamps is useless. Use your crap resources to make them.
If I had known that before I made 3000 of them I could have made a few nice swoops
Always said these were the worst idea for the re-newable income for our prof.
Thats why I don't make these to sell and I never get asked to make them either.
Sorry for the negative post.. Don't usually like posting negative stuff
