I was thinking about the architect profession and wanted to share some thoughts with the rest of the community. Many of us have expressed the ultimate goal of Architect to be able to craft buildings and items directly related to the Galactic Civil War. That aside, I was thinking about improvements that would not only improve the profession but the game world around us.
The standard cookie cutter boxy player cities are getting redundant. It would be nice ifeither thedevs would allow us to place buildings on 45 angles rather than just NSWE. If that is too difficult than the lot can remain NSWE anddesign a building that faces NW or SE or NE or SW.
I am not a big fan of random suburban sprawl on some of the planets that clearly were not meant to be that way in the Star Wars universe. I would love to see a craftable hotel building where multiple players can own apartments. The NPC Cities should allow for apartment renting in the empty Hotel buildings that already exist.
And of course city roads, walls, and random NPC traffic walking through would be nice.

I would like to see any Crafting stations placed in city hall usable by citizens as Public crafting stations.

Love the hotel idea. some thoughts i have as an urban planner for cities:
City Templates.. Bascially take the hotel idea and make it a neighborhood idea, even using current structures, it would be nice to see certain organization. where lots are predetermined by a template that looks good already. I currently use a row of three naboo mediums facing south and touching each other, with rows of small type 1 houses (five total on each row) going north south and facing outward and thre emore mediums facing north to top off a block. this hides a few factories in the middle from view. but instead of having to do this by hand, have a template for it, in much teh same way a hotel would work. the structure would be prexisting, the apt's coming in afterwards, in predetermined ways. Hotel is brilliant idea btw. maybe have those in the non-player cities!

Hotels would be an excellent addition. Both the Player city and NPC cityrentables. I like the way you think TK-421.
I'm with you on the sprawl too. Maybe even make them one, two and 3 story buildings.

angled buildings would be good.
different versions of houses again would be good.
Walls around cities would be mega.
Hotel is a good concept.

These are some good suggestions... i think City Walls (with the ability to mount Factional Turrets) is a great idea.
What's with making generic and Corellia houses the same... give corellia a different arch style. In fact They should add another 2 styles for each housing type. And also a different style of all city buildings. I am tired of every city hall, Guild Hall etc...etc... looking the exact same on the outside.
Make building color kits... usable by Arch's only. That way The buildings could be even better. (nothing too bold, but at least some blue's greens browns and such, something)
And here's some buildings that could make towns not look all the same:
Hotel's (mentioned above)
Storage Sheds (Storage, 1 lot, 200 items)(can be used like the saftey deposit, can't declare residance)
Mall/Flee Market Somewhere a community can set up vendors.
I have more... but it's xmas eve and i gotta go =)... will post later

I can see how that is useful, but I can picture some naughty playerfindinga way to make a hilly planet like Rori completely flat and boring.

Isn't it sad that we have to avoid certain features because griefers/idiots would abuse it beyond its intended use.

I'd really like to see a museum put in that has like 500 item storage and has a big dome on the top with the galaxy painted on it. The trick is you'd have to have all the exploration badges and maybe do a couple quests to get access to place the museum.

Love this idea, but I have a question. I have a small Tatooine house that I share w/ another player as a vendor. It's eating up 2 of my precious 10 lots. I see the option in my radial menu to "Declare Residence."
What does that do? Allow me to store more items in it (max is currently 150)???

no if it was done you could only flatten the area round your house and should be done automatically
so unless r able to build on the entrie planets surface this would never happer

Nope... it means that that's your residance, it helps city populations if the house is in a city... if not, then nothing really

Here's an idea... and it has nothing to do with a new building/furniture.
How about under one of the Arch skill sets (furniture maybe?) they put "Extra Lot +1" And it goes all the way up to master, that way M-Arches could get 5 extra lots (which we could desperatly use considering the amount of Factories, and Storage houses and Harvs needed to be an arch.)
If that were included in the Arch revamp i would be a happy Fish
