Thread: 90,000 Player houses in SWG Dev verified
Check out the Friday Feature and you'll see aline where they say that there are 90k players houses.
Okay, so if there are 90,000 indestructible, never decaying, pass-me-down houses out there and about 275k players, then we will reach critical mass in less than 4 months. This assumes a slow down of new players and no change in the number of houses made.
This could be the death knell for Architects.
No. I think everyone knows that business is drying up. I'm pretty sure we will need something new in the near future and that the devs will give it decay.
and it's a shame for metoo because I wassemi-close to Master archetect. Sales are almost non-existent and I can barely sell any homes for a below decent price anymore due to market saturation.
Player cities may give this profession a shot in the arm but I am doubting that many people will lose their old deed when trying to relocate their home.
Glut should be sooner than that since MANY people are in a Guild/PA and do not care to have or own a house for themselves.
feh. don't look at it like that. consider that most houses sold are small houses. and sometimes people upgrade to a bigger house. sometiems they upgrade again to a large house. and sometimes they move to a different planet, requiring a new kind of house. but houses are not the big sellers. Harvesters and factories are. People are forever letting their harvs or factories decay to the point that they need new ones, or upgrading their harvesters. if each of those people with houses had 8 harvesters going, and some day they want to uprade, twice, that's a LOT more sales coming our way. And then there's furniture. So i'm not worried much about our cash flow. especially now that urban planner is coming down the pipe. half the architects are going to be too busy to make houses and harvs, instead leaving that to future novice architects.

Isnt it 90,000 player strucutures ? as in houses, harvestors, factories etc. I also noticed blips INSIDE the no build zones so I think we may also have camps showing up here.
Coz theres no way in hades every third player has a house !

I think there are players who use many structures such as additional houses for storage and factories. I utuilze 2 medium homes as it is for shops. I wonder how many of the houses out there were practically just given away by the guild backed newbie archs?
I am a masterr architect, and I changed my title in-game because I am tired of people asking me for large homes and PA Halls at ridiculous prices. I sell what I have on hand AND I sell at a fair price. I am not contracting out to loose money or waste time 'bargaining' when no bargains will be made on my time or resources. I build what I feel like building. I do not sell heavies........let the other desperate architects cut their own throats. I will not contribute to it. It is not like I need to worry about skill points!
I am turning away business right now. No, not because it is coming too fast, but rather I can't get a decent price for my goods and services. I would much rather take my resources and make heavies for my self. (Yes I have not fully transformed my medium harvesters to heavies. I have been busy.)
But, I would not mind doing the odd small house if they did not insist on paying 4K for it. I see new architects dumping their houses for 4K in Bestine and I just shake my head. The architect field is so overcrowded. I do hope some of the part timers decide they can better use their exp elsewhere like combat skills. Hint. ![]()
SONY can help in this by adding more professions to the game. I know they are introducing Politician and Urban Planner but we need more. With more variety we get more diversity and more diversity you get a more balanced population to profession distribution. Heck, bring back the miner. Let heavies only be used by them. After I do Urban Planner and that market crashes I'll go miner. Mind you they are probably still "hard at work" fixing those bugs that should have been resolved be fore launch. ![]()
On the whole, would much rather do furniture sales (better return on resources), sell my resourcesor just jobs for friends. I hope Urban Planner creates a renewed interest in architect goods but not the architect field. We don't need anymore architects. We need long term consumers or a system that makes our products non-singular purchases.
I also believe we need to send out the Union thugs and work over the poser arhcitects. ![]()
