Thread: Wouldn't it be nice if...
I sat around thinking about this whole holocron thing, and I had an idea about how it should be implemented instead of the current design. This would take a bit of programming so I doubt we will ever see it. It just sounded like a good idea.
First of all, a character gets their holocron, maybe through a long involved and FUN quest. Something that would require skills that are both combat and noncombat. Basically designed so that it will take a mature character to complete it and make sure that the player has at least experienced various aspects of the game. The quest itself may take a couple months for the average player to complete. It can be soloed provided that the character trains the skills to do so. Then the holocron is keyed only to that player, though it is the only one they will ever need. It is auto insured, non trade, etc. From that time on, the holocron will be the player's constant companion, the what-do-I-do-now device. The player may access it to get a hint on what to do next, which they may or may not decide to complete. Not all of the hints it gives will point towards the FSCS, though some of them will, so if the player uses the holocron to unlock their slot, they still won't know which hints were really necessary.Once a hint is completed it should not be repeated. Though if it is not completed it goes back in the stack for later.
The holocron might give you a waypoint where you do a mission for a certain NPC, maybe a static one, maybe one that spawns just for you. Maybe it will tell you to master a profession, though for a big one like this, there shouldn't be any false leads. Maybe it will direct you to visit a certain POI. Or tell you to obtain orbuild a certain item. Maybe it will tell you that you must provide service to others, regarding healing or apprentice xp.
The idea is to give a nudge to a seasoned player who is standing next to the starport wondering, now what? Eventually, the holocron will help you to unlock the FSCS and a new playstyle, the jedi, will open. Some people will use the holocron to grind towards their jedi as quickly as possible. Some people will take it more casually and use it as an occasional addition to their main playstyle. Afterall, the holocron isn't going anywhere, there isn't any hurry to chase all the clues unless you just want to.
Believe me, I know, just wanted to post something positive for a change. With everything changing all at once I'm really not sure what direction to take my character at this point. Will BE get fixed this month? If not I'll probably surrender those skills and come back to it later. Will mounts be trained with Empathy4 or Management 4? There's conflicting info on this so I don't know what direction to take my CH training. Will the devs find a way for nonuber combatants to get holocrons any time soon? No, I don't have two graul maulers and I'm not a commando. Should I drop my crafting skills, which I may need anyway, to get a holo when they've said that they're thinking aboutfinding a way for crafters to get them? Should I play on test center knowing that character copy is coming, but not knowing when?
Logic tells me to go back to doing NPC missions like I was doing before, since those are still not ruled out,but I don't know if my heart is really in it anymore. So I think I'm just wishing for a hint box myself.
There shouldnt be any jedi period.......
It just doesnt go along with the time period !!!
>>Sony wouldn't have half as many subscribers if there were no Jedi.
I don't think that's true at all. Many people in game have never even seen a Dark Jedi. Most people play because it's Star Wars, and Tatooine, Dewbacks, Jabba, AT-ST's and Stormtroopers do more than enough to carry the game for them.
Jedi are icing on the cake, but that's all.
I doubt that, the other content carried me for the first 6 weeks, but its only the chance for the FS slot which makes me stay now and I am surea lot of other players feel the same. The game is fun at first, but lacks high level content for powerplayers, except the FS slot of course.
LOL
I sure hope the devs dont put up the FSCS slot in the next patch....
If you are goin to whine and cry about the jedi and how it has no correspondant and how to Unlock FSCS and all your " Theory's" then just leave.....
I enjoy the game like it is and i still havent explored all the aspects of the game......
I bet half of you never even thought about being a chef or a Architect.....
The profession i wanted most even before the game came out was Smuggler......
Im not a smuggler because i dont like brawler skills ( escpecially unarmed)
but anyway....You guys have stayed in this long can you hold your pants on and give player cities and mounts a whack ???
Just think in a month or 2 we will have vehicles.....
Im excited.....
Jedi or not im still sticking to the fact that no one should have jedi and you should all go back to what you were doing before all of this Holocron madness !!!
