Thread: House Signs

I think it would be nice if say at Advertising II or so we could change the sign on the outside of a house we own to something that would better signify what we are selling inside. Much like in UO where you had a choice of house signs so that somebody running by would see a gun and think "Oh wait I should stop here and see if they've got anything better then what I have."

I want to /sign this. I love this idea. Maybe at the same time, they could fix the bug where these signs float 10m in front of the house. Of course, if I got to choose the banned, I don't think I would mind that so much.

Or what they did for most of the smaller vendors in AO...

on the outside of the building, would be a little neon logo, which would show what was being sold inside.

Need the options for at least 2 logos/signs/banners, or have them designed with 2-3 different item types on them. I sell both clothing and armor (obviously) and want to catch people for both.

I'm a bit confused. I do change the sign outside my house/shop. It's on the "set name" option of the control panel. Mine currently says "Welcome to the BlueCo Five and Dime (Yes, we have fresh fishing bait!)" I was suprised I could get something that long.

Am I missing something else?

Well that's the good news, it means the sign is a separate object and thus could conceivably be changed separate of an entire new model of house.


And you can change the sign text, but you don't actually see the text on the sign. We're talking about a sign where you'd actually see something as you walked by.


I had suggested that different levels of advertising would add complexity to the sign, perhaps the first level just indicated it was a shop, where the top level had some text and a graphic of what you were selling.

They're not talking about changing the text of the sign - they mean a sign that is recognizable from a distance - say a "Red Cross" sign if you were doctor/selling medicines, etc.

The worst part of the current signs is that they are tiny, you have to be on the right side of the house and click on it (if it is even there!!!). Why can you click on any part of a harvester/factory/etc. and see the name, but you have to find the little tiny sign to see the name of a house?

Also, I moved from a small house to a medium house next door last Wednesday and destroyed the small house - but the sign is still there!

for what its worth, the sign on the large tatooine house is 10 meters INSIDE the house. I discovered that when I got trapped in my house by a rebel base spawn and found that I could 'fall' inside the geometry and then wander around in the 'basement' of the house.


more on topic, I agree... it would be fantastic to get a selection of banners/signs that can be seen from a slight difference.

I think it would be nice to get a sorta pin marker too... so people who travel with the overhead map out can see your shop is different from a lage distance.. ( i know the pin map does this I'm talking about a ad II skill then Ad III makes it on the cntrl + V map )

I would love to see signs that you can place INSIDE a house. Like the ones in town.



I've seen a category for them in the bazaar. Were they dropped in beta, or have I just not found one?



I'd love to be able to put up a sign my customers could read that explains powerups and what affects what etc. As it is though I have to rename a backpack or something.

What level of merchant do you need to get the new sign options? I am a novice merchant, and I get no radial option for signs

I believe they are gained up the management line. I have all four and have only maxed management.
