Why use a 13 BER Heavy with the extra power and matience cost. 90cph. Dont know about power but I know its more then a medium.

get a 10 BER medium 60cpr...

Lets see here I pay 6 credits per BER for a medium per hour. Were as I pay almost 7 credits per BER for a heavy....

(ooo 1 credit, hey it adds up 7 tiems 13 times 24 is alot of money,.. 2200 credits almost)

In theory should the BER of a heavy be a better value then a medium.

Or what is the highest extraction rate a heavy can have?

Well its do the math this way. Would you pay a bit more per hour if you could pull 30% in the same time? How about if you let run longer with out having to check it?

Though, if you’re worried about keeping your cost down to make the biggest profit you can, then medium harvesters is the route you probably want to go. If you’re an Architect who needs massive amounts materials that 30% more is a big deal.

Mine 30% more for the cost of 50% more?

Thats just not right.

I think heaves BER should max 15+ at least.

Then even I would consider using heaves.

Disadvantage To Heavies

Cost more to maintain
Uses More Power
Takes more money to re-deed (5 g's!)
Has a larger footprint

Advatages to heaveis
Larger Hopper Size
Can possibly mine faster.

I guess maybe its because I use 2 accoutns and can deal with the lot issue. I guess if You could only put down 4 or 5 harvasters th en that would be a advantage. Were as I can put down 14 if need be.

14 heaves = redded cost of 70,000...........

Why the crack about having 2 accounts?

I have 2 accounts and could in no way be described as a power gamer, nor have I ever tried to get or buy a Holocron as that doesn't interest me.Although, of course, I'd like a FSS there is no way I'm going to grind through 4 professions first.

BUT I do like to be a bit self sufficient so I have a combat character for when I want to kill something, maybe this has saved my children from who knows what and an Artisan/Arch and will add DE eventually. This way I can experience more of the game and not only fight, fight, fight or only craft/sell all day.

Funny I do that with a single account .

I could go into greater depth into this issue of two accounts and relative reasons why you wish to make defiance that you’re not a power gamer. This isn’t the time or the place to go into that.

I’m still not convince that you’re an Architect, the statements I seen in just this thread lead me believe that you’re such a nub that don’t realize your own blunder or the fact your inexperience and just don’t know better; thankfully your not claiming to be a Master yet. I’m sure others Architects will be able to see why I have stated that. Oh and I’m saying that not just because of our disagreement over which is better to use between a medium and Heavy harvesters Maintains vs. Extraction rate.

Now back to subject. If your worried about your CPU its far most efficient and cheaper to go with a mediums instead of heavies. The same argument can be made with personals over mediums. The reason why Heavies are better the mediums and Mediums are better then personals, is the fact over the same time periods the harvest more the mediums, a noticeable difference. The fact that you pay more for that little extra is nothing in the big scheme of the picture, as its far cheaper to harvester your own resources then it is buy them.

LOL, now what’s funny. You truly don't see the plus side on 30% more in the same time frame, you truly must not be an Architect. When I hear you your list of disadvantages, especially 'Has a larger footprint', I know your not Architect. From the sounds of it you’re a Tailor or a resource broker? The latter sounds about right when you break down the costs as you have, but that’s just a guess.

I honestly wouldn't see why an ARCHITECH wouldn't pay an extra 2.016k a day if it meant being able to pull 2.16k to 4.32k more minerals per harvester a day. Even taking your scale of operations in count, on average, 3.24k per harvesters (14) is an extra 45.36k of minerals for an extra 28.22k a day.

I don't have a problem paying this for the extra minerals a day; at the end I'm still only playing about .3 cpu mining with Heavy harvesters with a BER 13.

2 accounts you say? Are you one of those people who would pay RL $ to get advantages in these type of games too? Oh, wait you already answered that question.

Zypen, I couldn't care less what you think of people with 2 accounts. I merely stated that I have 2 accounts and do not consider myself a power gamer. Defiance has nothing to do with it. I appreciate that English may not be your native tongue and that 'defiance' might not have been quite what you meant. Anyway I don't consider myself a power gamer

You're not convinced that I'm an Architect? From what I wrote youhave managed to form the opinion that I'm a 'nub', that I made a 'blunder' etc etc??? Ioffered no comment to the discussion about extraction rates vs cost as that was not what my post was about, so i fail to see how you could make any such judgement.

On the two accounts, it makes no sense. You get 8 character slots, though only 1 per galaxy/server. So why are you saying that you can only have one character and you're paying for 2 accounts to play two characters? That's actually 16 characer slots, not 2.

As far as extra accounts and Ebay and all that, I say if someone wants to throw money away when they don't need to(like having multiple accounts to play on the same server or buying "characters" off Ebay) more power to you. I just wish I had that extra money. Then again I would spend it on something besides throwing it to SOE. 15.00 a month is more than enough money to give to SOE as far as I'm concerned. Especially when they can't "fix" what we're paying for in the first place.

Puck, I like to be at least a little self sufficient. Having 2 accounts allows me to have my crafter make things that my combat character wants and the combat character can get things that my crafter needs.

One of my sons plays various characters on other servers, I'm on Eclipse, so we get reasonable use of the character slots.

While I don't consider myself rich (it's all relative after all) my children are more or less off my hands (physically if not financially), mortgage is paid offand my wife doesn't complain about £1/day to keep me out of the pub or whatever. She wasn't so impressed with the £1500 that I spent on the computer just so I could play the game My old computer which handled UO with ease just couldn't hack it as it didn't even have a seperate graphics card.

Haha, I hear ya! I'm getting ready to do a major upgrade on my computer just because of this game and EQ2 soon. As far as the extra accounts, it's all kewl and I understand. Just not my thing

If you go for a new graphics card think long and hard before going with Radeon, I had endless trouble with a 9700 and then a 9800. Eventually I changed it for an Nvidia GeForce FX5900 and it worked straight out of the box.

Noooo way. I use GeForce all the way. Of course I'd love to use Voodoo, cuz those cards were the best cards I have ever used, but unfortunately they're no longer around. But I'm prolly gonna go with one of the GF FX cards.
