Thread: Weapon Slicing: Critical vs Speed
The speed sounds nice for more specials, but I crit so rarely now with critical shot maybe 3 times on a night for so far I see, so I dont know if a 10% is worth it
I always go with the crit slice, it's nice to see the "Critical" flash above the mob when you are using your other specials besides Advanced Critical. I know my fights are shorter using a gun with the 10% critical slice.

I'd like to start a discussion what slice is the best for my circumstance:
Master Bounty Hunter
Master Smuggler
Weapon: Featherweight FWG5 , SAC 65, Unmod speed 1,99
Im seriously doubting between:
- 10% chance to do critical slice
or
- 12% speed slice
Whats best for my situation ?
Your input is very appreciated.

Earlier I thought now should I crit slice my weapon I migh be killing them better cause I dont fire away , I mezz, carefully shoot, kd, mezz, etc.
though on the otherhand when my mezz is not possible being able to quickly put all my states on the opponent is golden too.
Hard choice still.
Thx for all input and perhaps more input following,

Go full critical as BH / Smuggler in my opinion. Speed slices may make the DPS number look pretty, but don't translate into much more damage if you already have high speed. Your damage output with a GOOD pistol will basically only be limited by your action pool, so anything that makes that part more efficient is cake.
As a smuggler / BH / novice commando / medic 0010, my Featherweight with full critical slice still had a mod speed of 1.22 while usinga +damage / - speed powerup and +25 in pistol speed attachments. Manage your shots right and that's plenty speed. I consistently beat MBH / MC / CM 4000 temps in duels like that, and was about 50/50 against a MBH / MR / CM 4000. His starting range is what did me in there.

Anyone more ideas about this folks ?
As it is right now (unsliced weapon) I maybe crit 3 times on an evening, could be more hard to count.
Does the 10% mean alot more crits or marginal ?
The speed seems a fixed addition, the critical seems so "from time to time"
Reason why I am doubting so hard is cause I spend my whole fortune this nice gun, I dont wanna discover a week later that I sliced it wrongfully )
10% chance (1 in 10 attacks average) to critical on any attack you do, even your default attacks. When using it with an attack that has a built in critical chance, you'll get criticals quite often. It all depends on your style though to be honest. If you like the hardhigh DPS but no big hits, get speed and use a SAC pup. If you like the big hits, use critical slice + damage pups... and get some speed equipment.
If you look into the maths... yes speed slices will add more damage over time. I will tell you this though, Iused to have3 different featherweights. One had full speed slice, one had 7% speed 3 % critical, and one full critical. I ADK'ed my full critical gun and sold the other two at a loss. That's how much I liked the one with the full critical as MBH / Smuggler. No matter what I did with the other two, they would never hit as hard as the one I kept, and they always drained my action too fast.
Theone I kept I would use damage pups most of the time, but Idid use SACPUPs every now and thenwhen getting into a fight where I was healing a lot. Before publish 24 I would kill 36k health boss NPC's fast enough that I'd only have to heal once or twice, and that's not counting the ones that only do like 10 damage a hit. I'd watch the Jedi killer FOTM MBH / MCM / Carbs 0400 temps try the same fights and struggle to stay alive. Post Publish 24 super-regenboss marks are a different monster though... the high regen ones just take a lot of luck to solo, and some help from the local critters.

Very informational post, thanks a lot !
Thanks to all, your input on this was wonderful and Ive decided to go 10% critical.
I closely tought about my playstyle and in a one on one fight I never auto attack and fire way, what I do is play my smuggler/bh as a crowd controller. Im in control of the fight 80% of the time due to constant mezzes and in between my mezzed when I hit I wanna/need to hit hard, speed at that point wont do me good.
Naturally all this from a one on one/bh hunting point of view.
