I just got an email of the newest Oct newsletter and it mentions ( i quote ):

"Profession Updates: Smuggler & Scout"

with not a single mention of smuggler, just squad leader and ranger...

typo?

I just saw that. It's just cruel. It's not even funny any more - for two and a half years smugglers have been promised their due, and the company has absolutely no intentions of doing so. I have to assume malice, but come on, someone inside there must find this funny or they wouldn't keep stabbing us with their knives of indifference.

you know that bit in austin powers, where dr. evil sends the guy with the fez down the chut and fire shoots out... then he goes with im not really dead just really really burnt... then dr evil calls someone and you here a gunshot.... then he says ow you shot me i cant believe you shot me....then he gets shot again....

yeh we the last part and wearing a fez.

Funny, I just read that newsletter, and was coming over here to ask the same thing.

However, for me this brings a small light of hope. I assume that the bit about the smuggler update was something that they're already preparing for release in the next newsletter. If this is the case, then (going along with the idea that they released the ranger and squad leader changes AND THEN told us about them) surely we could expect something to appear for smuggler in the next publish?

At the same time, maybe that's just wishful thinking.

Is also funny how they release the OCTOBER newsletter in NOVEMBER...me thinks they have fallen behind a bit...

What I want to know is how many times the can make an error when posting or publishing something with regards to this profession before they get their act together and/or people stop defending them.

This is another in a long line of screwups that come from just mentioning this profession. It's pathetic. They can't even keep their propaganda straight.

Between this, and the recent amazon.com "mistake", as well as past errors and insults, how are people not getting fired over this crap. This spells incompetence at the basic level. How are we to expect them to produce sound code when it seems they aren't even capable of proofreading their public relations stuff?

For those f you who think this could mean a good thing for us, it means nothing. It means that at the very least, they're so backwards in Austin they can't keep anything straight, or at worst they're continuing to dangle the carrot to keep our hopes up. That newsletter says nothing for Smuggler other than the word Smuggler. We already have that word, I want to see the words that spell out what they're finally planning to do with this profession and whether or not it actually justifies the name of this profession.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114
