Thread: Best Smuggler Template, dead before it could have been explored

I unlocked my Jedi char just after the village, having did the hologrind on 23 profs and getting 4 free branch unlocks. I never wanted to be a Jedi, I wanted to be a smuggler. So I kept my master smuggler/master pistoleer template, with enough business to keep a vendor. After the CU I was looking at the possibilites of throwing in a Jedi skill with my template. Then I saw a lightsaber run by me on Kashyyyk one time. ??? I checked the skill trees. Powers X4XX grants Force Cloak? Hmm... Check CU profession calculater. Yes it can be done! So since the spring I have been a cloaking smuggler. I was able to stay MSmuggler and MPistoleer while keeping 24 skill points for FS skills and just enough left over for cloak. Is there anyone else that discovered this awesome template? Man when the smuggler revamp comes, it'll be awesome! I can cloak past contraband scans, if an NPC BH comes for me, burstrun/cloak ftw!


Huh? SWG is no more? There is something new taking its place? We can't have hybrid templates anymore? When the idea of a cloaking smuggler first hit me, I thought what a great idea. Now everything is changing just when things get interesting.

That was an awesome combo.


Now i wish I woulda had more fun with Cloak.



Still I am going to give it a chance. I am liking some of what im hearing. Some not so much.


I'll miss CH.


Even though I will remain Jedi on my main. "Spent way too much on pearls" Im still fairly sure my unlock will remain a smuggler... although Spy sounds cool too.

NPC's still fire at cloaked jedi. I see it all the time on my server. That's why I tried to go to a high level NPC base to delegate faction, any jedi that tries to gank me there will have a free one-way ticket to the cloner. (unless they have avoid incap... lol)

Well I guess I'll come clean.



I've been a master smuggler since March 04, and my template was Msmug/TKM/some pistoleer. When the jedi revamp occured I thought a hyrid FS smuggler would be fun to play. Unlocked last Dec. and built my template as Master Smuggler/LS 0404, Healer 4000, Powers 4000. When the CU hit, like you, cloak SCREAMED sneaky smuggler to me, so I respec'd to that(dropped to LS0400 to free up the skill points) and play that template to this day.


Terribly inneffective at dealing damage or taking damage lol, but ASSLOADS of fun for pve and when playing with friends, not to mention a great surprise when, after doing hours of quests on Kashyyyk using my DL44 I whip out the LS against Necrosis lol. Haven't regretted it at all.


I will miss being a hybrid.

Your first template seemed pretty good Doc, I was tempted to be smuggler/lightsaber also. But I figured spreading myself out so much would not have been good, that's why I stayed Smuggler/Pistoleer. Cloak has helped on a few occasions, like running through the blackscale compound, or in the Myydril caves. Unfortunately since this new upgrade may be part of the smuggler revamp we've been hearing about for almost two years the future possibilities of a cloaking smuggler are all gone.

Doesn't seem to be anything preventing Jedi from using a gun.

Since we couldn't smuggle before the NGE, why not go Jedi, and just use a gun, and RP it. Since that's basically the same thing you were doing before...

Speaking of Smuggler-Jedi Hybrids.


Never finished the last part of the grind for it, but my template was Master Smuggler, Jedi Healer 1 x x x , and was working on master Defender. soooo wanted to use avoid incap, and last ditch together. maybe with force infusion if needed. Best part about it was didnt have to wear armor..... I hate wearing armor.

Yes I was untill the (NGE) was announced... It was such a perfect template.
