Thread: Server Status website accuracy
Something like today where the servers all went down for a few hours for a known update, you look at the status page and it says that they are all up. Message dated 9/30. My, that is helpful.
Even the Chat window banners are not correct, since they continued to say 'All servers are up', long before any servers were up.
I don't understand the unwillingness to link server status to the live webpage. EQ used to do it, WoW does it... It'd be nice to just SEE the status without having to log all the way in to the login server..
The servers were up internally which is why launchpad showed them as up. The software that is used isn't designed to check if the servers are internal or external, just that the servers are up or down.

(Prolly the IP's though) - So the servers are up, but not allowed to accept logins.

Not that I want resources that are currently devoted to, oh, fixing the Lightsaber speed issue, the FRS, and/or pearl drops to be reallocated, but might it not be a good idea to change that software so that it DOES distinguish between internal/external?
From a practical standpoint, it does your playerbase no good whatsoever to know that a server is online when it's not accessible to them. In fact, "Online" usually encourages one to think that everything is working for everyone.
I don't mean this as trolling or flaming. I just mean to suggest that minimizing the confusion might help reduce the pandemonium you face in Customer Relations.

That only means that OS on their servers is up but it doesn't mean the software is deployed...

Umm maybe that's hard to code but... At least they should have a "loading" status, because it's not ready for a long time once it goes from offline to online...
loading != online ![]()
After 2 years, don't you think you could fix that software to make such a check?
