Thread: SOE didn't fire Tiggs, Gamers did.

Tho there's mixed messages about it, it appears that Tiggs was not fired, but quit.

I, for one, don't blame her.

Why? Not because of the NGE, not because of SOE... because of the gamers.

Thread after thread of horridly inappropriate things were said about tiggs in the NGE forums, every unlocked thread started by her were filled with flames and personal attack. Calling her foul names, blaming her for problems, and even for things like server caps, or server quantities.

I am ashamed to be a supporter of SWG, not because of the game, or the problems it's had, or the organization that develops it, but because of the player base. To call myself a SWG player and know that statement lumps me in with the kinds of people who make some of the most rediculas and inflamitory comments I've ever read, just plain sucks. She was not given the respect she deserved, reguardless of the status of this game, or her ability to perform her job. After waiting to play on the NGE test centers, and reading post after post, I had to just go away because I was tired of it, and frusterated for her with the flak she kept taking.

No human being should have to put up with the things that were said to her.

Tiggs is gone because of the abuse this community delt her. Were I in her shoes I'd have given up long ago.

To Tiggs, thank you for your hard work, and dedication. Best to you in your future endevours.

I find that hard to believe... Maybe because I didn't read the NGE forums to closely, or every post by Tiggs, but I thought I saw at least 2-3 positive or "don't put the cart before the horse" posts for every flame post.

WhileI doubt anyone will tell us exactly what happened, or that anyone will actually tell me what happened (I just found out about this 10 minutes ago) maybe we'll all get lucky.

I fully agree with you, Vreesnac.

My guess is SOE put on Tiggs shoulder the blame for not getting more support from the player community. And why is that ? Mainly because some very disrespectul players don't remember a fundamental thing : it's just a game. Noone should deserve any insult because of SWG. Especially not Tiggs, who did everything she could to give true information and was caught between two sides : the flamers/whinners and SOE.

/cry.

/whishes well to Tiggs and hopes to see her soon.

Well i dont agree with the nge, but i never blamed anyone, or especially not tiggs.

Because i realise that there are people that wanted the game to be like this, obviously alot that dont.

But to blame one person, when actually it was the gamers + devs that wanted this style of game, is not right.

I think its a shame tiggs quit, and i do think as ive played other mmo's (mxo, guildwars) that this MMO's

has the worse forum ever! which is why i rarely post.

Lack of respect in some peoples posts just shows the type of people who play this game

As people say "oh im different in real life" nah you just explore sides of your personality that dont come out as much in

real life, its still you

Perhaps Tiggs left for purely personal reasons. She had been off sick for quite a while and I hope that she is doing well RL.

Tiggs didnt quit. She was fired.

And here is why I believe that:

a.) Love her or hate her, Tiggs obviously cared about the game and the community. She would have posted her own farewell if she chosen to leave.

b.) her last post was right before the start of normal buisness hours - theoretically before she headed into work to be fired.

c.) I work in Human Resources. "tiggs is no longer with SOE" is HR-Speak for "we fired her" At the very least they would have used the HR "she quit" catch phrase - namely "Tiggs has left to pursue other opportunities"

Personally - I think SOE directed her to say many of the things she said - and I think overall she did a pretty good job given limited tools to work with. I have a feeling its LucasArts calling the shots now (being that JulioLEC is a longtime LucasArts guy and is now in charge.)

Good luck Tiggs, I may not always have agreed with you, but you certainly deserved better.

I think Tiggs' credibility took a terrible hit when she claimed the Amazon listing of the NGE was an "error". But I also don't think anyone thought that was really her fault, she was obviously following orders from above.

But it would have been nice if Tiggs or Thunderheart (or anyone from SOE) actually posted a response to the many objections to the NGE that have filled the boards. The longer it was before anyone bothered to reply, the greater the frustration among people who have loved this game and wanted to keep it from ending for them.
