Thread: Slicing components

I would love smugglers to be able to get these parts solo so by placing it inside DWB and the like you just make it unaccesable to the lone smuggler, yes this is a MMO and when i was master carbines/master combat medic iONLY played in groups, now im a smuggler again i would like to be able to use smuggler skills to get these components not just a loot drop.

As a loot drop you will make the best loot available only to jediand Riflemen who will no doubt charge outinsane prices for these pieces which only the very rich smuggler will be able to afford.

I would prefer it if it was looted from containers in dungeons and these containers would need to be sliced by smugglers to open then and get what they need from them, though the flaw is these wil no doubt be camped, i think this would be a better way than a lootdrop because quite frankly when we get our"daze" and this nulifies our ability to actualy kill anything solo which exist in the places they mentioned for where the components will drop.

It would be more fun though to be able to steal them from locations inside npc cities and have to smuggle them out while having an increased chance of being scanned and if the scan is successful a load of police are called to the location and the smuggler has to try and make a runfor it, if the smuggler is incapped it is considered that the smuggler is fined and the component he has taken is removed from his inventory. Again this idea is about escaping and smuggling the loot out meaning we wont have to stick around to kill the npc's which is what favours our combat style more than having to fight through a high level dungeon which we are not equiped for.

Just a few thoughts from a concerned smuggler who doesnt want to have to change his playstyle.

The problem with loot is only the really high level stuff will drop the good loot and as smuggler isnt effective at pve any more we wont be able to get them ourselves meaning we will need to buy them in from other players, knowing how this game works out the good stuff will cost millions making an elitist system where only the rich can get decent slices.

Also knowing how this game works people wont except anything other than the best and if you cant offer the best then they wil move on to another smuggler who will get richer and richer while the poor smugglers get poorer and poorer.

Yes, yes and yes! Oh: and yes!

What I thought was: Getting the same items. Missions or loot doesnt matter. You have a chance to get them both ways. So, it would be your choice how. Or something completly different:

You go and buy armor-/weapon-compoments. You can now slice those. (with a little minigame)

When the customer asks for a slice you can offer different quality/price-ranges (the slice on the final item would still have a random% but with a good slice on the components you would have a good slice on the final item.) Now you need to "slice" those components into the armor/weapon (minigame again). I love the picture of my smuggler sitting in his house fiddling with a weapon and a screwdriver

Slicing Components

In the table, the improvement of the higher slice replaces the improvement of the lower. It does not add. The customizations do add up.

Weapon Slices:
Speed
Component ----------------------| % impr | % Customize
1) None ---------------------------| 2% -----| 20%
2) Simple Toolkit ----------------| 4% -----| 25%
3) Finely Crafted Toolkit -------| 7% -----| 25%
4) Delicate Trigger Assembly | 12% ---| 30%

Damage
Component -------------| % impr | % Customize
1) None ------------------| 2% -----| 20%
2) Simple Toolkit -------| 4% -----| 20%
3) Illegal Core Booster | 8% -----| 20%

Critical Strike
Component ----------------------| % impr | % Customize
1) Simple Toolkit ----------------| 3% ---- | 20%
2) Finely Crafted Toolkit -------| 5% ---- | 40%
3) Delicate Trigger Assembly | 10% -- | 40%

Armor Slices:
Resilience
Component ---------------------| % impr | % Customize
1) None --------------------------| 10% ---| 25%
2) Simple Toolkit --------------- | 20% --| 25%
3) Shock Absorbant Padding | 30% ---| 25%

Deflection
Component ---------------| % impr | % Customize
1) None --------------------| 20% ---| 25%
2) Finely Crafted Toolkit | 40% ---| 25%
3) Powered Motivators -| 60% ---| 25%

Hardening
Component -----------------| % impr | % Customize
1) None ----------------------| 1% ----| 15%
2) Tando Intraframe -------| 2% ----| 35%
3) Mandolorian Intraframe| 3% ----| 50%

Armor Break
Component---------------------- | % impr | % Customize
1) None ---------------------------| 25%--- | 20%
2) Shock Absorbant Padding | 50% ---| 20%
3) Reactive Micro Plating----- | 75% ---| 20%

Finding Slicing Components:

The Skint Smuggler (mix-n-match):
You can mix the customizations on the weapon or armor up to 100%. Just like the old slices, there is no ruining a slice. Unlike the old slices, can't screw it up for an annoying patron, unless you add in a free slice where the patron doesn't wish one. Oops.

Wow... I'm so glad you came along with this info. Really. I don't know how we would have known about this if you hadn't.

Oh yeah, we would have read the FAQ.

And just FYI...the whole "item failure" part you have in there is wrong. They took that out before the new slicing system went to Live.

Thank you, Angus. Will edit.

I heartily believe SonGouki's slicing calculator is the r0x0r bomb. Thank you, thank you, thank you. A lot of time and effort went into programming the calculator, and it makes a great smuggler's tool.

However, it's a little hard to search through its tables with the forum search engine, and since I'm a little tired of having tons of emails waiting for me to tell people what their loots do, or what they need for a slice, or what kind of slices are available...

Forum searching is a valuable tool. Yes, yes, when it works. And the rest who believe that a post should have some meaning in their lives... ignore it. It'll fall off the first page listing, then the second, until it's been buried. However, it will still do the job I intended for it. /shrug

Would appreciate if someone could give me a reasonable price for the various slicing components. I'm working up the BH invest tree and am picking up lots of em. dont want to sell too high or ridiculously low. any valid suggestions would be handy. A search of trade forums is not reasonable they are rarely ever listed there and when they are its always with an instant sale so I have no idea if they actually sold for that price. Thanks.
