Thread: Future of Slicing?

I'm not the type to run around and scream that"the sky is falling", but i'd just like to know if these new unsliceable weapons are going to be the wave of the future.

We have seen the WS become irrelevant in terms of their ability to produce high-end weapons that can compete with loot drops;and now with this new expansion, Smugglers aren't able to slice these weapons from Mustafar at all.

Wes, was thisthe desired outcome,or is this just part of post release bugs?

If this was intended on the part of the Devs, and if the goal in a MMORPG is to continue to make "cooler" more "deadlier" weapons for players to spend money/time online to obtain, can we...should we... conclude then, that future publishes/expansions will see these futurehigh-end weapons unsliceable? Is armor next?

If this is the case, then perhaps we should be thinking of new abilities/skills in which to exchange yet another irrelevant line in the Smuggler Tree with.

I wouldn't be too worried about equipment slicing yet. The expansion is less than a week old and (hopefully) all of the weapons and armor have not been found already. Who knows, maybe the fabled new schematics are going to produce sliceable stuff.

The slicing thing? Deliberate, as far as I've heard. Of note is that apparently now the items are tradeable (binding), but still not sliceable

Interesting. Well, I can certainly see where this may go. Thanks for the input Keck.

Yeh, the none slicing/PuPing is deliberate for these specific weapons. I can understand why they're such on the highest versions of each weapon, an uber doober high end loot thing specifically for a certain quest reward or what have you.. but I don't get why they're that way for the lower end versions..

/sigh

Ah well, I don't see this setting the trend for the majority of weapons, but it's been done so I guess that means it's a precedent for future items in future expansions (although I imagine player feedback will affect that).

just a question but wouldnt you be able to slice the ones that weaponsmiths make...i mean weaponsmiths on bria are working on combingin glowing parts to make the mustafar weapons therefore those will probably be able to be sliced and have beeter stats seeing as a WS craft them

We'll find out when/if someone makes them.

QFE : RocketDSM on the subject of the creation of a Non-Jedi Server
As for the argument of "The Jedi are bored, give them content and they'll go away." I actually do agree with you. However, there are two major problems to this argument. First, it would take a lot more coding time than just disabling the Old Man on one server. Second, all that time that would be devoted to a SINGLE PROFESSION is not being devoted to fixing bugs, adding general content, or making new expansions for the rest of the game population. So this is a classic problem of the needs of a few over the needs of the many. I can name seven professions that serve little to no purpose right now. You want more work done on one that's already absorbed an estimated 75% of the coding time for the past year. In my opinion, it's time to get the Jedi off the nipple and give the general population their turn.

Could it be you cant slice or use PuPs on them because they dont decay. Im not sure about the weapons not decaying because i cant use the looted/quest weapons i have but i have noticed that my other ToOW loot does not decay when i die but everything else does. the quest rewards minner suit, healer gloves, poision resist necklace, targeting armor helmet does not take any decay on death.

Might be worth testing decay on those items. If they dont decay then they should not be the best weapons or armor(targeting helmet) in the game.

Ah, I remember back in 1977 when I saw "Star Wars"...

I said to myself, "Self, I hope in the future you grow up and play an MMORPG where the sum of your criminal abilities is to modifiy weapons and armor just like "Baby Han" did..."

Freck that! Like Jayne, I'd throw slicing out the ship to make room to get away with the loot and the Smuggling missions.
