So I'm doing a bit of dirtside work, in between SA missions, and I get a tell:
Guy: "Can you slice some weapons for me?"
Me: "I'll be around the starport for another few minutes. How many items do you need done?"
Guy: "12 T21 rifles."
Me: "Fine. I slice for 10k per, non-negotiable."
Guy: "That's too much. I'll pay 3k, since that is the going rate. Where can I meet you?"
Me: "The going rate is what I say it is, especially since it's such a pain to slice these days with the tool nerf. Plus, you'll sell these things for 100k on average after they're sliced."
Guy: "I'll find someone else. Thx."
Me: *Thinks, Good luck finding another Master around... 5...4...3...2...1...*
Guy: "There are no other smugglers on. How about 5k?"
Me: "Do you understand what non-negotiable means?"
Guy: "You should really think about doing business with me. I make 3-400 weapons a week."
Me: "Actually, I have a permanent MWS partner, who splits her profits with me. Plus, who said I wanted to slice 400 weapons a week?"
Guy: "Dude, it's only money. What's the difference?"
Me: /bonk; /bodyslam; /addignore Guy

My last responce would have been: "You're right, it is only money- so you should have no problem paying the full ten grand for each item to be sliced."

That's what I was thinking, but at that point, why bother trying to point out someone's faulty logic?

Now I'm not complaining (well maybe just a bit) and I hope this lesson serves you well. I am a master smug, colonel, on the bloodfin server. I've been a smug for a while and despite the drawbacks and bad customers I love it.
The ASF rule was inspired by a player by the same name (who is a master smuggler btw) who took me for 3k faction. Okay don't laugh too much read more of the story.
ASF = Always Secure Funds $$: secure cash/favors for your services BEFORE transfering said services/goods to your client. In other words taketh before you giveth away.
I've known ASF for a little while, talked with him (think he's in Italy because we may have had a conversation about it) and I trusted him (mistake). He agrees to help me on my 3rd Tier piloting missions in exchange for faction he needs up front. Me being a nice guy (maybe naive) offers him 3k for free (yes) and he offers to buy 12k more.

I xfer the 3k to him and then he asks me how much the 12k will cost him. I do the math, give him very fair price (close to cost) and then he says "that too much" runs to the shuttle, goes off planet and then ungroups. I had to laugh (heh heh) and chalked the whole thing up to experience. My 3k in good faith...and well yes it was free but it was on the condition he help me on my missions was (POOF!) gone.
Well I am not complaining just offering this as a lesson to all generous smugs out there. The ASF rule should come first..."It's only business not personal"....this goes for friends, family, and even fellow smugs. Honor among thieves really didn't count in this situation.

Ok. This is my story. It is true. You may laugh all you want.
Alright, I was playing my slicer character when this guy, lets call him newbie, because he obviously is, sends me a tell.
newbie: Hey can you slice my armor.
me: Sure, I charge only 5k a set.
newbie: Great, I have just enough.
me: Ok, trade it to me.
He gives me his armor in a backpack thing. It is only RIS and composite. I do a double check.RIS AND COMPOSITE!!! I gasp!
me: Where'd you get this?
newbie: I asked a guy for some money and he gave me 10k and this armor. He said it pretty good.
I am sooooooooooo tempted to take his pack of armor, /ignore newbie;/quit, and be a millionare. But I'm too nice. Just a little bit. So I begin to slice it, crying inside. I make a molecular clamp, but my inventory is full. I should mention now that I had other packs, exactly like his, in my inventory. You're probably laughing at me. I, of course, destroy the wrong pack. So much money, down the drain. I end of /ignore newbie;/quit anyway. I am a smart one.

Cracks me up every time.
I once loaded onto some dirtball of a planet to find an annoying short Wookiee begging me for slices. Before I loaded all the way in, he got mad.....I'll leave it at that.
I stood there for ten minutes after loading in, not moving at all. It was pretty funny....
After he turned around, I /chuckle, and /bo trans
Poof!
