I started the game as a Twi-Lek Artisan, I have mastered Artisan and made millions via resource selling, so now I want to give up the crafting route and go down a combat route.

Right now my skills are

Artisan 4-4-4-4

Scout 0-0-4-0

Marksman 4-0-0-3

Rifleman 0-1-0-0

Now ive chosen rifleman as my combat proffesion (obviously) and I intend to drop all artisan and scout skills, but I have some questions

1. As I started as a Artisan (twi-lek, not sure if this effects stats) my stats are setup really for an artisan, so what id like to do is migrate and change all my stats to make them more suitable for a tougher combat/rifleman proffesion....what do I changeEACH stat too?? Right now when i wear any composite it kills my mind, do I need to wear armor as a rifleman?? in paticular..composite?

2. Obiouvlsy even if I master rifleman, im still going to have many skill points left, what other skills should I consider trying to master along with my rifleman skills?? I was thinking maybe CH or Squad Leader as I love leading groups, but im not totally sure, cause I know having master medic would be a big help in battle too, im open to any other ideas for skills.

Right I think thats everything...any help would be much appreciated...cheers

1) max focus, willpower, andmind. Other stats don't really matter since doc buffs are easy to get and you can't wear good composite unbuffed anyway. You are nothing in PVP without good armor.

2) TKA and fencer are common second masters because of the defense bonuses and TKA's power at close range. 2xxx medic is nice for bleed healing, master doc is nice for self-buffing if you don't want to take two combat professions. CH isn't all that useful in PVP and squad leader is totally broken.

POKEY THE PENGUIN SIG REMOVED BY GARVA BECAUSE "Just because you are crafty enough to get around the technicality of it being a .jpg or .gif does not mean it is not an image, it is not ascii art, it is an image" SO HERE IS MY NEW SIG.

DONT DROP SCOUT!!!!! you going to need the terian negotion while running from extreamly easy mob's. while low lvl riflemen U SUCK and cant kill **edit**. so therefore i tell u not to drop scout it will help in the long run. oh yea and climb the expo tree in scout.(otherwise what i just said is pointless).

good lucky with riflemen its tough 1

A. I wear advanced kinetic ubese (70% resists). the encumbrance is much lower, and if you're only pve'ing, you only need kinetic resists (stay away from npcs that shoot). No, armor isn't necessary, but it really really helps. you can wear multiple pieces of ubese without being buffed, even with moderate secondary stats. Obviously, you do need focus, willpower, and mindpool, since all of your specials have heavy costs there. More importantly, buy alot of mind enhancing foods and drinks (ryshcrate, breath of heaven, fishak surprise, etc). those buffs significantly increase your capability to maintain fire. I buy them by them 5 crates at a time. finally, get a cdef rifle max experimented for low hams and speed. make a macro that will equip it, fire a warningshot (since you have marksman support 3) and then /peace. that's your "bail out" button. it will also increase your survivability tenfold. FYI: being a twilek does affect your stats, but it's not a variable-- you're stuck with who you are. Migrate as much as possible into your mind stats.

2. Obiouvlsy even if I master rifleman, im still going to have many skill points left, what other skills should I consider trying to master along with my rifleman skills?? A. I've done both-- master medic (some doc) and master ch. CH is much much more valuable to you as a PVE'er. All the medic you need is First Aid 4 and Pharmacology 3. that will let you use Stim C's experimented for effectiveness, and you'll be tossing 1k+ heals.

I really enjoyed the Ranger/Rifleman combo. It's fantastic if you're going to do pve (big game hunter for example), I'm not into pvp myself. I think there are certainstyles of play depending on what you want to do. If you're not going to pvp, maybe you don't need armor. It can sure help though, especially moving up the trees. That becomes a matter of preference.

As you proceed into the Rifleman tree you'll want to migrate your stats to your mind pools. Doctor and entertainer buffs are nice, food and spice can give you the edge in a tough situation.

It's important to play the profession in a way that let's you have fun. That is what it's all about!

rhx for all the replies so far, after some careful thinking ive decided I want to do the follow

Marksman 4-0-0-4

Rifleman 4-4-4-4

Creature Handler 4-4-4-4 (although im not 100% certain on this, as really I just want big critters to help me in battle, and cant I control good creatures even as a nove CH?)

Scout 4-0-4-0

If I do the above it leaves me with about 39 skill points, which maybe I could put into Novice Medic, so I can heal myself and others in tight situations.

you'll notice everyone will have a different template that suits them. i don't pvp ver much, i keep several sets of armor at my house depending on what I am going to do, but I have found lately that I am depending less & less on armor of any type.

I am currently:

rifle 4/3/3/3

medic 2/2/0/0

scout 4/0/2/2 ( i sometimes harvest or survey for creds for guild members)

brawler 0/0/3/0

entertainer 0/2/0/2

I intend on dropping most of my scout when I hit master. I'll finish the 2H sword line & I think I am going to master musician. I like having the musician to cure my mind wounds in the field, & the medic with good stims allows me to heal about 800 H or A per stimas well as I can use all the HA wound packs at about 175pts per pack. The sword line is for Hand to Hand combat as a last resort option (i like my axe, is that wrong?). I never went the CH line, why bother everyone else is, I just stand behind their pet and let them heal/feed them.

This seems to be working for me.

Rifleman / TKA has worked great for me so far. With good ubese (mines enc. sliced and 73% protection), buffs, food, and muon for emergencies, I pretty much am able to take on anything except krayt's solo (well and i guess those NS steroid chics). The TKA is great when they get in close, so i dont even bother to kite critters at all. Plus with TKA, I don't need medic in general because I can heal myself. I hope this helps.
