Thread: Tails of the Raid: a PvP guide for Riflemen
Well if nobody else will offer tips I guess I will.
Do NOT lead off the attack with strafe 2, all this does is makes about 15-20 people auto target and start attacking you.
Stay to the back in a raid, let the pistoleers and melee combatants engage the enemy at close range before initiating your attack.
Examine your target, are they buffed, are they wearing armor.
Attack the weak points, if they're not buffed or wearing armor, strafe 2 with a T21, if they're not buffed and wearing armor, strafe 2 with a jawa, if they're buffed but not wearing armor, HS3 with a T21, buffed and armor, HS3 with a jawa.
Eat for gods sake. Drink heavily too. A little spice now and then doesn't hurt.
Love your musician friends.
Don't use fishak unless your focus is already sufficiently buffed to negate your horendus mind costs.
Don't eat food that boosts your willpower during a battle. Doesn't do any good to have it regen 25% faster if its draining 200% faster. Focus is your friend.
If you see incap messages flying by, think about switching over to sniper shot for a few rounds, so they can't get healed and fighting again.
Look for medics, they need mind as much as you do, unless they're combat medics, you can take thiers away much better than they can yours.
Carry lots of different guns.
Carry lots of different food.
Carry powerups. Use them too.
Learn your guns. Sometimes harder isn't always better. Speed is king, once you master speed work on damage (note that you do not master speed with master rifleman)
Don't just spam strafe 2, throw some flushing and flurry 2's in there as well, can't hurt to have the entire other side stunned and dizzy. Your carbineer and TK friends will love you for this.
Don't use your "good" gun all the time. If you need to grind some cash, put that 500k T21 in your backpack and use something a bit cheaper, weapon repairs aren't guaranteed.
Have more than one good gun.
Make friends with weapons smiths, if you need a special order, grind out the missions and buy the guns by the crate, and have a smuggler friend slice them. Keep the best guns for your play style, give away, sell, or throw away the rest.
Don't carry so much that you need a backpack. Invest in a house to store your stuff. Get a tailor to make you a bandoleer with some melee defense tissues in it. Every little bit helps.
Wear a shirt under your armor if you wear it that also has melee defense tissues in it.
If you don't wear armor, get some pants and a specop duster with melee defense, between these 4 items you can get up to 16 extra.
Make some friends on the other side, that way if you meet them in battle you can joke and laugh about it later.
Did I mention speed? Speed is king, if you're not shooting at the 1sec cap, you're shooting too slow.
Buy tapes. If you're reading this then you obviously have access to your servers trade forums, if you see them selling rifle tapes, buy them. Except rifle crawl speed, it doesn't exist.
Don't get too down when other classes think we're overpowered. A guild mate of mine saw the damage I was doing and decided she wanted to become a rifleman too... Then my food buff wore out and my mind bar emptied on its own in seconds. She changed her mind. We have our disadvantages (tho not enough)
Thats all I can come up with right now, maybe somebody else can add a few more.
A truly excellent post Eaca. I'd give you 20 stars if i could. I hope all Riflemen read that post. The only thing I would add is that in group battles incapped players can enter the fray immediately if there is a medic or combat medic still standing. If you use your ranged deathblow they have to sit and wait at the cloning center until the rest of their comrades die before they can enter battle again. Don't be surprised when you are the focus of the second wave. Thanks again for that beautiful summation.
"Don't carry so much that you need a backpack..."
Help me out on this one. I'm also a master doctor packrat so I pretty much have to carry a backpack unless I want to head to my house every other day and restock. What's the deal?
Thanks,
Zibeon

The only thing I can add to you're already Highly Informative post is that in Group PVP:
Try to team up with a Bounty Hunter.. If you work together to defend your melee team mates you can do wonders. Trust me when I say a Rifleman and a BH targeting mind on the same opponenthas devastating effects. The BH can also cover you with Knockdown when opponents get too close.
I don't PVP much at the moment because of the Decay stuff.. even though I don't have armor buying new B.E gear is a pain.
