Thread: Whats the most powerful special a 0-0-0-0 novice rifleman can use?

I have just got novice rifleman, I went hunting rancors on dath in groups to get XP but I have still found overcharge shot to be my most damaging special. Ive tried mindshot 1 followed by head shots but it gives me a much smaller share of the group xp than overcharging,(and damaging) my T21.

I understand that you can no longer stack mindshot 1 and mindshot 2 so is 1-0-0-0 still my next best bit of training?

Any suggestions on which way to progress with training?

Read the post stickied above titled something like "I made master in 4 days and here's how." That is more-or-less the definitive method to reach master.

oh, just noticed it's not stickied anymore

Here's the method:

Get a damage-sliced T-21 and a bumload of +max/+min damage powerups (ignore speed totally).

Go to Dantooine and take Savage Quenker missions.

Now, when you're prone, you can get 3 shots off before aggro (or more like, 2 shots and aggro on the third.). So what you do is pop two shots into the first quenker, two into the second, then put a shot into whichever is lowest at that point. (USE HEAD SHOT 2). if it dies, no aggro if it doesn't, kneel and whip out a spraystick and spam HS2 at the attackers. also, get a heavy cocktail of Breath of Heaven, Glazed GLucose, Corellian Fried Ice Cream, and Rhyshcate.

Doing this method is semi-slow, relatively no risk, and the best part - it only took me TWO T-21's from novice to master - i used one for the lairs, and one for the beasties. Also, do the Sniping Tree first for accuracy.

Thanks for your response, I have read that post before, but I was getting more than double xp using overcharge shot, than mind shot 1 headshot 2 combo? Hunting in groups with creature handlers providing the big tanks seems to be working well for me, but I was suprised that as a Novice Rifleman there doesnt seem to be any moves than kicks out more damage than overcharge shot? This situation doesnt seem to change a great deal until you get a lot further up the tree.

I'm under the impression that I should just buy a few T21's and carry on this method as the xp seems to be stacking up alot quicker.

I'm running a T21 with a speed slice and damage powerup which is pretty well balanced

Hmm get speed power ups alos if you already have sliced it for speed. as at low lvl rifleman you must get that speed down or else you will get very little xp when in groups. If you are soloing then you need damage as you want to kill the target in less then 3 shots.

As a novice rifleman you shouldn't be hunting rancors for exp if exping is your goal. see above post as to where to hunt for exp.

What you should do on your next skill tree advancement is take conceal shot. I take down whole bolle bol &gualamalairs and never once get aggroed. I also do rebel camps with it and do not get attacked.

If your in a group get a speed sliced t-21 and use strafe1

at sub rifle abilities3 speed slices are FAR more important than damage slices. if you get a damage slice save the weapon for later use when speed is less of an issue.

since your hunting in a group go 003x first for flushing2 then go 403x. if your soloing without pets get conceal shot and then go up the accuracy tree. it is much slower that method.

and at novice headshot2 or strafe1 depending on what your shooting at. headshot2 works well on living targets strafe for the nests.
