well im not sure how much this has been covered, BUT i've seen a lot of people reccomend going up the sniping tree first (in game not really boards). while i dont think its wrong, i think the value of Flushing Shot 2 from the counter sniping tree (block 3) is underestimated and fairly unknown.

since i am a little more than midway through with CH this is a neat tactic i use to rake in xp from savage quenker missions on dant (6.8-6.9k). If you send your pet to attack the lair, wait like 5-10 seconds for him to build aggro then start spamming Flushing Shot 2's at the lair. at 1|0|3|2 i was ripping through the lairs in about 3-4 minutes at most. now at 3033 its 2 min at most. the best part about this is that i do this all without armor buffs food or anything, just a shirt, pants and my 140-460 7.4 sp t-21. it can get a little tricky at first, but once you learn how to manage agro the xp comes rolling in . apologies if this has been all over threads that i may have missed

This is a known combo for any CH/rifleman and is a highly suggested combo to blow through the Rifleman XP grind.

But there are alot less Ch Riflemen after CH got smacked with the nerf bat, that why it aint mentioned that much anymore, welll probably. I mean I don't know for sure but I'm guessing. I suppose it can be another reason but I'm not sure. I mean maybe..........................................

This is a great method for gaining rifle xp. I was once one of those CH/Riflemen as well. I left CH not only because of the nerfs, but once I mastered riflemen I wanted to be more effective in PvP, and CH just doesn't cut it. Anyway, if you want to level CH at the same time as riflemen, you probably should adjust your tactics. The way you do it now, you will get very little ch xp because your pet is only attacking the lair. Just have your pet attack each mob, and get a hit off of all of them. This way they should all be stuck to your pet, and when you lay waste to the group with flushing 2, you will get the full CH xp off of all the kills. I hit master CH about a week before master rifleman this way. Good luck

im one of those now rare rifle/CH folks

i think it is a VERY effective combo just as much now as it used to be. since i am master CH i just send my Gurreck FleaBus after the lair initially to attract all the attention and the initial spawn which generates an additional 3-4 critters. kill them all useing strafe2 or flushing2.

i dont target the lair myself as shooting at the lair tends to attract more unwanted attention than shooting directly at the critters. i use a grandwrix named ChewToy for PvP and command his primary special which is a KD. aplying a dizzy shot to the target as ChewToy reaches the victim is a VERY effective tactic. most people ignore the pets as they present little threat damage wise. if they concentrate on my pet then im not taking damage and dealing it out. pets are VERY effective if used correctly. so basically i do have a very good KD attack and dizzy effect at range which i couldnt get using TKA.

most of the CH have moved on and werent too serious about pet handling since their sum totality of tactics and understanding of pet use was to get a pair of graul mauler and say "a"... no loss there and glad theyre gone.

I'm glad you are having success with that combo. I never seemed to ever get my pet to use it's special, so my special usage was ineffective. I did not take up TKA for a kd, but am working on melee skills mainly for defenses. While just a rifleman/ch, whenever in a battle it seemed that the slightest breeze would have me on my back, flopping like a fish. You can't shoot off many specials when you are constantly falling over. And you can't just keep your distance because there are smugglers and BH's around as well. Now, even with not a full combat template yet, I am much harder to hit, giving me that extra time to finish them off.

If I see any pet coming after me, I usually kill it. Most pets are just a 1 or 2 strafe shot and they are done.

As a side note, I only had 1 graul mauler and 1 graul, and I've found brawling much more interesting then "attack" and shoot away with no worries. Granted I make less money now since missions take longer, but oh well.

well it depends on how much effort you put into developing your skills and abilities in combat. granted i dont PvP all that much but i do imperial missions and get tef'd a lot and this leads to me being attacked frequently and not getting the first shot. with a gurreck set on guard mode sporting 10k ham light armour and 30% resists this usually gives me enough time to shake off the dizzy and get to a knealing position and start dealing some pain. and we all know how many shots it takes to knock off a target at master level...

i know that pets dont last but they do give a small edge which is generally enough for me to recover or finish a fight. and it is often overlooked by the CH community at large.

soon im going to get one of those deadly bull rancors when they patch in milking herbivores so i can tame the **edit** things. getting a 300 point disease from one of those is no joke.

one thing you might consider is that the TKA defenses and other combat defenses are no longer going to stack in the VERY near future. so going rifle/tka or rifle/pistol for defenses isnt going to be a viable solution. might want to start thinking of a good replacement now.

I will wait to see how they update all of these defense first before I start dropping all the skills. I'm still curious how the heck they will un-stack ranged and melee defense bonuses, as there are a lot of generic sources of these, including new foods coming in the chef revamp, skill attachments that enhance them, and squad leader skills. It seems to be a fundamental part of the game, so I don't know how they'll get rid of it.

Now if by "defense stacking" they really mean block, counterattack, dodge, then I will have no problems. It's another wait and see type of thing since they give us no hint as to what is coming.
