Thread: Rethinking build with Combat Revamp in mind

Now I have had time to think about this, and even did the point total add up and such. But what I have been thinking is with what information we have been given about the revamp coming and the intent to reducing the stacking of modifiers, that what one should consider when picking up boxes is the skills that these boxes provide. I plan on keeping Master Rifleman, through better or worse etc..., and I also plan on keeping TKM, because I like melee and the skills in TKM help out my play style.

After those two mastered classes, I have points left over, before the nerf herding of stacked defenses, I planned on going up Fencer for the defenses. But with the combat changes on the rise, I started looking at skills rather than modifiers, and I came up with a new plan. My new idea is Carbineer, now I know the Carbineers have HAM problem but that is supposed to be addressed with the upcoming changes. It was the skills that have peeked my interest, specificallythe AoE KD and Crippling Shot.

Now why I have posted here is because Klaw has said that he didn't recommend this combination, and I am just wondering why, and also just wanted to see what others thought of this.

It sounds good to me. If they take away def stacking the new craze will offensive stacking. Everyone will be bh / carb or pistol / bh / smug. They should not nerf def stacking without nerfing kd as well. Without kd defense from pistols or fencer or both, riflemen are easy to defeat pvp.

The KDs will be nice, but I doubt KD1 will be spammable as it is now. I found Cripplingshot to be just 'ok'. It's either very powerful or laughably weak

As far as grabbing up all the abilites you can- sounds like an excellent idea to me. Though not possible in my case- MCM/MR leaves 4 or so points left. Haha

i can address that pretty well, as i'm a 4/4/2/4 carbineer and master rifle.

aoe KD is broken, and has been since day 1. i don't look for it to be fixed any time soon, since it would quickly be pretty overpowering, particularly if it's spammable like charge shot 1.

crippling shot is a high damage attack, but comes with a HUGE time penalty. even at carbineer 4/x/x/x speed, it's a damned slow attack. I have to use speed powerups on a speed slicedlasercarb to get 1 cripple in after a chargeshot (sometimes get 2 cripples). Also, carbineers get fairly poor accuracy mods, and you'd miss frequently in pvp anyway. There's nothing more frustrating than being a 0/3/0/0 carbineer and missing pikets who are 5m away. trust me, it happens.

in reality, it would be silly to get cripple anyway, since strafe2 with a good rifle will outdamage it.

so, bottom line is, in my opinion i see very little advantage being a carbineer/rifleman. the best benefit you would get would be to macro a low speed gun equip, chargeshot 1, rifle equip, strafe2. but, i see little utility in crippling shot or chargeshot2.

Ahh thanks this is exactly what I was looking for. Although I can't see any reason for them not to Fix Charge 2, Fire KD in the BH Carbine line is AE right?

Oh well Thanks Blaster will look into some other things then.

FKD is not AOE. it'sa knockdown with a chance to autoapply dizzy. i was also a 2/4/4/4 bh for months (until the holocraze hit me)
