Not that T-21s are all that hot anyway. AP is really wierd, I was helpingrun some tests earlierand it doesn't seem anything like what it's supposed to be...
As a matter of fact, AP doesn't work the way the Armor Guide originally said. It was later changed, or supposed to have been, to reflect how AP actually works. If someone has a link to the Armor Guide that would be great. I can't find it to check it out myself.
Basically, the AP DOES NOT do bonus damage to the PC or Mob. For instance, originally we were led to believe that AP3 vs AR1 would do 50% bonus damage. It does not do this damage to the mob or the PC. It does the bonus damage to the Armor. So 100% adjusted for resistswould get through onto the mob or PC and an additional 50% dmg would be done to the armor. This was supposedly corrected in the Armor Guide but I haven't been able to find the link to check it out for sure. Yes, this is a big deal and completely different from the way most people believe it to work.

Ok, I trust you that is how it works now. The big question than is: is it INTENDED to be like this? Or is this a bug and will be fixed? I think you are saying it's working as they want it to, but can you clarify this?
If this is really how it is supposed to be, that is a slap in the face of the rifleman. It will basically nerf our weapons (especially the T21) even more against 90% of the targets. How many things are AR3 in this game anyway?
On the ironic side: They have this AP system in place. They write a guide who says how this is supposed to work, and what is in there is the same as all the players always thought and all the devs always told us.
However, in the game this works differently.
Everyone expects this "bug" to be fixed someday. But then, instead of fixing the "bug", they suddenly claim it would be working as it's supposed to be and "fix" the guide they wrote themselves?
To me, this sounds like: "We have a bug. It's complicated to fix. Maybe we should jsut pretend it works as designed, and just change what we said before in the guide. That way it's less work".

According to the Dev who pointed this out to me (I was under the same assumption everyone else was) this is the way it was intended to work. It was supposed to have been changed in the Armor manual but wasn't (I finally found the manual.) I'm letting you know that he told me here because he said this was public knowledge so it isn't supposed to be a secret. It just isn't very widely known unfortunately. I'm trying to get some more clarification from him, and an explanation if possible, but its T-Giving and I doubt the Devs will be back posting until Monday.
Thanks! No hurry though.
It's just very important. One of our "advantages" always was supposed to be "high AP", which we never had but we were confident that is was a bug and we would get it some day. Now it seems that the AP3 of the T21 is only useful if you really find something with heavy armor, it's definately wasted in PvP. If we indeed loose all benefits form a higher AP, this will make all current weapon evaluations wrong. It will take away a lot of effectivness that we had in theory. Rifles won't have a good DPS anymore unless against AR2 or 3 targets.
And I don't think I like that.
I tested this on another thead and AP DID add damage when used against a target that has resist to the damage type done. I checked the health, made sure floaty damage was the real damage done to the target etc.
Againwhen Iused an AP1 energy weapon on a target with 1% resist to energy damage I gained about 24% bonus damage to the targets HAM. I checked the HAM before the shot and after and the amount lost was the amount that should have been lost if AP did add damage. I have hit targets for damage which should be impossible unless AP does add damage.
The dev also said AP reduces resists, which it does not seem to do at all.
(Both of these tests were done awhile ago, but they were after a response to our correspondent from a Dev saying that AP did not add damage so I have a feeling it's still the same issue.)
Doing damage to armour is a total waste of time, what kind of advantage is that?
