Master Pistoleer going Master Rifleman: Anything I need to know?
--------------------------------------
To start off, I have a few questions:
1.) I have done the Rifleman tree in Marksman before, and getting Rifle XP is a little harder than Pistol or Carbine, does it stay at that rate? Or is it somewhat like TKA? Hard grind to Novice and at Novice you get a nice little buff to your DMG/Stats?
2.) Am I going to need 100 mil credits for Food/Spices/Buffs?
3.) It seems that the Laser Rifle is far superior to the T21s, but how come a lot of Rifleman use T21s? (T21s are new on my server. Maybe there not the best yet?)
-------------------------------------
Any basic tips?
Also, what templates could I create?
I thought up:
M.Rifleman/Combat Medic (for Heal Mind)
M.Rifleman/Rouge (for Panic Shot/KD)
M.Rifleman/M.CH
Any others?
Getting Master Rifleman is a LONG, SLOW grind - not least because ANY attacker that gets close to you is going to put you down in 2 blows max thanks to the lovely 2.5 melee damage multipler.
As for the template, get concealshot first, and climb the Counter-Sniper tree. Once you're done there, get the sniper tree - by then you should be 4/1/4/3 - start the grind up the final tree.
The debate over the T21 and laser rages on. T21's have AP3 (heavy), and tight damage range. Lasers are AP2 (medium) abut a wider damage spread. T21 has heavy HAM costs.
Make friends with a Master Musician for the buffs. Make friends with a smuggler for Muon. Find a poor chef and make them rich buying Fishnak.
I personally don't bother with armour - if they get that close, you're dead. I carry crates of PSG3's for taking on ranged opponents.
Of course, once you get master you turn into a killing machine, able to deal out HUGE amounts of damage in a short time. My best is 8598 on a Scout Trooper. Unfortunately, getting there may kill you over, and over, and over etc.
Good Luck, and welcome to rifleman

well dont let this last guy get to u. the grind isnt taht bad. i made 2/1/2/2 in a week and a 1/2. so it aint that bad. also i dont know how combat meds heal mind. can uplease explain.
I think its a bad grind, sorry but it is. Even slow for a master CH....but I have heard it is well worth the grind!
Well it won't be too bad of a trip for you since you have all that free combat xp, if you were truly green then it is an everest. Whenever you reach a new rifle spec skill lvl you can notice a speed increase and subsequently an experience increase. Really the length of time it takes depends on your playing type. I"ve been working on where I am today since launch, excluding politician this is what my build was calling for and I'm still a good ways off from master rifleman, however that is because I spend an immense amount of time just talking with friends in the med center/cantina, if I really wanted to I could probably master rifleman within a week now but it won't happen since I hate grinding with a passion. As for the way you should do it is get basically 1's across the board (1-1-1-?). You're going to want ms2 so you can stack bleeds when necessary. Now that concealshot is fixed it truly is a rifleman's friend, and counter sniping is the best tree to finish first.
As for the prof to augment it, CM's won't be able to heal themselves so that point is moot, poisons will still be nice though, doctor would also be great for the buffs but then you can get a good buff for just about 10k so... I'd say go 0-0-04 TKA at least, so you can get a melee ranged head attack as well as nice defensive mods (plus after the grind to novice that can be lvled with your rifle/pistol) Or be like me and roleplay a slicer while running for mayor, that'll eat up skill points![]()

I'm just curious as to how come you're changing? holo'ing?
It was said above someone made 2122 in 1.5 weeks. I believe them! I mean, 1.5 weeks is a full 252 hours, and as long as they never slept, ate, or left the game, I'm sure they had no problem doing that.
2) As far as buffs/food/spice, it helps, but some do without it. Spend only as much as you want to. Take the befriending suggestion.
3) As long as AP/AR is borked, the Laser Rifle is superior. But not by much, and depending on the T21 you have to compare.
Given that you come from a master combat profession I'd recommend you invest 0003 as soon as you can.
The melee modifier seldom comes into play when figthing factioned NPCs, because they are mostly armed with ranged weapons. The Dizzy ability works best against NPCs using ranged weapons. Ergo, riflemen rule against NPCs, but have a harder time against creatures.
Go for 1003 first, then climb 1033, then whatever you please. I started with 0100 but gave it up because it was too boring! Yes it allows you to spend hours killing some big stuff, but you will slash your wrists in boredom-induced agony.
Keep a pistol handy for when a critter gets on your tail, so you can suppression fire.
The T21 is superior to the laser if the target has any energy resists. The laser is great for when the target is energy-vulnerable or for applying bleeds because the higher maximum damage.
Invest in power ups for max damage, mind cost and speed. Power ups are far more useful on rifles, because they last significantly longer. Also 33% of max damage 300 (any very good pistol) is just +99, whereas 33% of 525 (an sliced laser rifle) is 698. This may sound like an odd argument, but the end result is that you finish more fights before you suffer too much damage. So, you can risk larger targets.
Breath of Heaven and ryshkate are your friends.
Edit:+173 not 698, 698 is the new laser rifle damage after power up and slice.
