Mindshot is entirely different from headshot. Mindshot doesn't do any initial damage, but it does cause the target to bleed from the mind pool, wait a little while after mindshotting something and it will start to lose mind.

I just made rifle specialist last night, and I'm a little confused about what mind shot does. I tried using it a few times and it would just shoot normally at the target like two or 3 times,THEN it would target the mind pool but usually that was too late and the creature was already on top of me. I went back to using headshot2 since I know that will target the head everytime. Am I doing something wrong with mindshot? is it bugged? I was under the impression that it was just another step up from headshot2 and was a better headshot manuever.

Yes, especially for extra-tough badguys, i hit them with mindshot till it shows the bleeding symbol in their info box, and then go for headshot till he dies, this way, even if he kills or incaps me he will prbably still die from the bleeding.

Shouldn't MINDshot do MIND damage?

Uh... it does.

It's a bleed shot.

I think he meant on the initial shot, where it usually does small amounts of Action or Health damage.

You'd think it would do Mind though, you know, causing bleeding of the head and whatnot...

things used to die from bleeds, and if you didn't hit them with at least 1 NON-bleed shot you would get no xp.

Bleeds (aka: DoT (death over time)) have been revised so that the bleeding pool will go all the way down to 1 - a target will not die from a bleed. you need to hit it with something to kill it.

also note> if you bleed with a rifle (mindshot) then switch to pistol(or any other weapon)to kill it - you will only get *insert weapon* xp, no rifle xp. (again, this is all because bleeds don't count towards XP).

Mindshot1 and Mindshot2 stack - you can use both on the same target for a larger bleed.

MindShot 1 & 2, are Stackable Mind Bleeds... ie, you hit for MS1 for 500 and MS2 for 1500.. They'll drop 2k Mind every 20seconds or so. If memory serves me correctly.

Note: You get XP for Damage Done.. The Initial MS Hits and HeadShots... Not for the Bled Damage..

I think only if you have done additional damage to him... then you get credit.

For example... I bleed a MOB and he rushes me... I keep trying to headshot him but I do nothing but MISS MISS MISS until the **edit** thing incaps me.. it bleeds down and some body else in my party kills it. I get no XP.

However, once I was bleeding this Krayt and hopping on my mount and galloping away... then I accidently ran right into some Tusken Raiders who promptly incapped and DB'd me. I cloned, and rode back out there and the Krayt had bled down to like 1/30000 in his mind pool. I popped him once and got the kill. I can't remember if I got XP then or not. I think I did.
