i'm currently at rifles 4 and have ranged support 4 from my pistol days. this afternoon i was 60m from a quenker lair, prone, and used an overcharge shot 1. my rifle has a max of a little over 400 damage, and i shot for 8995 points. i've reached near 2000 sometimes, but this seems way more than normal. can anyone think of any reason for this aside from an extremely lucky shot?

ahh you hit a lair right at its sweet spot. i hit a lair for 16k before. and 2k sounds normal attack at that weapon damage. i do about 4k with my 765 laser rifle with power up on it using overcharge shot

ah, that sounds reasonable. is there anything that increases your chances of hitting the sweet spot? to-hit bonus perhaps?

at a certain point, i believe when laiers are almost tapped out, your damage quadrooples on them... not sure why, but it makes for impressive damage results

I've had this happen a couple times. I think it's a bug. Awhile back the Devs mentioned that you would do extra damage to lairs once the MOBs were all killed. This doesn't usually happen. You do regular damage to lairs. But on occassion you do extra damage which I suspect is related to the extra damage the Devs mentioned.

It seems that a part of the code for this extra damage was put in but it only works sometimes. Would love to find a pattern of how this happens. Would make missions that much easier.

it happens when you attack the lair and the mobs heal it. once the mobs have been killed and you hit the lair again, you get a big damage bonus which causes these numbers.

Lairs are supposed to become "vulnerable" and take 4x damage whentapped out,but most of the time it doesn't work cause the code is borked.

I can't belive you all are even arguing this one.

NON Mission Lairs, i.e. "a warren" or "a pile of bones" when the creatures have all been taken out, you do a HUGE damage increase

If it is a mission lair, i.e " A savage quenker lair" or "a picket lair" then you will just do your normal damage to it.

I have tried and tested this and that's how it is, I have yet to see an exeption.

All animal lairs seem to take the extra damage after they're empty.

NPC camps don't. However, I noticed that if I come across an NPC camp where someone already killed all the NPCs it takes the bonus damage, but it never does when I kill them myself. Not sure what's up with that.

those empty lairs WILL spawn more mobs if you take them down slowly (like using a spraystick on autofire)... when you are tapping the lair for 4x normal dmg and another critter spawns you will start doing normal dmg... kill the critters and you will still do normal dmg... back away until you can't see the lair, come bakc and you will be doing the 4x dmg again....

as far as NPCcamps go they don't spawn extraNPC's (although that would be rational) so they should never run into that code... i have however destroyed a camp in a single shot from my LLC (in my BH days) for no reason... so the code is definately broken in some form or another
