Thread: Brainstorming ideas for a change to Cover/firing from elevated structures
I like the idea of shooting from rooftops, catwalks, etc (probably because I'm a Rifleman), but I admit that this would give a large advantage to us and theother professions would be in an uproar. It's not completely unplausable, though. Here are some brainstorming ideas. Chances of something like this getting implemented are probably extremely low. Let me know what you think.
Make changes to Cover. This skill, when successfully used, now allows theuser to become invisible on radarto all otherPC's/NPC's until/unless those PC's/NPC's are within a 20m "dead zone" of the Cover user.
Cover is disrupted when any creature or player hits or misses the Cover user in combat. (Cover users can't be seen except in the "dead zone", so what's the point of this rule? Read on to the Detect Cover skill)
Cover is disrupted when the Cover user switches to any position other than prone.
Included in the Coverspecial is a timer penalty of 30 minutes, which will disallow repetitive use of this skill. Logging out and back in will not clear the timer.
Cover dramatically reduces melee defenses (could use the same time penalty as TEF).
Cover adds an attack speed penalty of 1 second.
There should probably be an ability to detect covered players (Let's be practical and call it Detect Cover), which would have point spreadsin the Scout and Ranger professions. If the Cover user has more points in Cover than the other player has inDetect Cover, then the Cover user remains hidden from radar (unless the other player breaches the "dead zone" of 20m). In contrast, if the Cover user has less points in Cover than the other player has points in Detect Cover, then Cover will become disrupted.
