Thread: A funny thing happened to me....

While out checking harvesters on my bike, I ran into this great scaley wall of a krayt dragon and son. Not so surprising I know or funny even. What got me was that they didn't deathblow me right out. I was able to wait out my incap, stand, heal, then take cover. I started conceal shotting the adult and was doing a pretty good job on it, then it just up and disappeared mid combat.

Now this wasn't in the Krayt graveyard area. It occured down between Bestine and Wayfar.

I suspose there is a timer on these random spawns, but if the spawn had been damaged I'd at least like see the spawn timer reset so that it doesn't go poof mid combat.

Well before the superkrayt patch i fought a krayt just for fun and a quick ride back and it knocked me out twice,it didnt db me.That was nice,my first fight with a krayt dragon and it did nothing to me(except some hundreds of wounds).

Well krayts are known to dissapear or"hide in the sand" so...i dunno why though.

The Houdini act happens with a lot of creatures. I ran across a Peko Albatros, and started up with Concealshot on it. After a few shots,I realized Iwas barely even scratching the paint. So stopped and I checked its resistances and sawthat I needed to use a different gun. By that time, it had flown off a ways. I got back into range, and just as I started firing again, it disappeard. I have had it happen with Fambaas I was bleeding and kiting as well. So it is not unsual for this to happen.

This has happened to me as well. Snorbals and Gurks for example have disappeared during mid combat with me, and then going back to the wild spawn I see all of their brethren are gone as well.

Quite annoying actually.

This has happend far too often to me. Very annoying bleeding a Dark Jedi down to 25% mind only to have it vanish.

I have been having this problem with entire Lairs lately.

Yesterday I was on Dant soloing a Piket lair (master rifleman on muon) and had just taken out the very last piket and turned around to kill the nest. No nest. I tried moving around, tried going past 128m, then 164m and coming back. Nothing. Finally I went to 256m (270 actually) and came back and the whold damm lair had respawned... new Pikets and all.

This also happend a few days back with another lair. However, if I remember right, both the lairs were near buildings (maybe 40m or so... dont know for sure).

There's a reason it happens on lairs.

If you kill the spawns around a lair and run 100m away from the lair and come back, they will have all respawned. Well people were using this to do the following:

Take two missions 200m apart in the same direction and ping-pong back and forth between them for continual carnage/xp gain. People were also using it to get Surface Marshals to continually respawn in the bases and farming holocrons. They wouldn't kill any of the other npc's just the marshal, run away, and come back to a fresh new chance for uber loot.

Now, you can run out of range THREE times and have the lair respawn its mobs. On your 3rd time back, the lair just poofs. If it was a mission lair, your mission is cancelled and you get no money for it.

I had 3 lairs, with entire spawns up and disappear on my last night. Very frustrating!

I was prone at 60m, had a dune bantha almost dead with a good bleed going. IWarning shot it (it got too close) and boom!!! The bantha, the rest of the spawns, and the lair were gone!!!!

So I lost out on about 4k XP, 300+ wooly hides, and time!

This has happened with Picketts and Vornikers on Dant, and you don't have to be alone. There were three of us, and occasionally as the HAM is reduced, the critter would just disappear like a magicians trick

Quadork...

The only problem with what you said is that I was standing about 30m from the lair, and had not been farther from it than about 50m, when it disappeared. I only went a significant distance away from the lair AFTER it disappeared in a vain attempt to make it reappear.

I am aware of the exploit of moving away from a lair in order for it to respawn. When I was leveling Master I used this all the time on Tatooine Mountain Squill. They eventually nerfed it so that the 3rd respawn removed the lair. That is something completely different than the problem I have seen lately.
